PASADENA, Calif. - February 13, 2019 - Amazon Studios announced it has reached a new overall deal with Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino, the writing, producing, and directing duo behind the critically-acclaimed Golden Globe and Emmy Award-winning comedy, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Sherman-Palladino and Palladino will develop Amazon Studios projects that will premiere exclusively on Amazon Prime Video in more than 200 countries and territories worldwide.

"Amy and Dan have a remarkable partnership, grounded in their complete trust in each other and evidenced by the magic they create on-screen - especially with revolutionary roles for women and with their trademark brilliant dialogue," said Jennifer Salke, Head of Amazon Studios. "We celebrate the critical success of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and our extended overall deal with them, which will allow our Amazon Prime audience to continue to enjoy their groundbreaking show and future original series from this incredible duo."

Said Sherman-Palladino: "We did everything we possibly could to scare them off, but nothing worked. So now we happily plant our flag in Amazon world."

"Amazon is now housed at the studio where Amy and I first met," said Palladino. "How could we consider working anywhere else? Many thanks to Jen Salke and her entire team for this tremendous opportunity."

Sherman-Palladino is the creator, executive producer, director, and writer of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Palladino is executive producer, director, and writer. The series won eight Emmy Awards in 2018, including Outstanding Comedy Series, and Sherman-Palladino made Emmys history with wins for both Comedy Writing and Comedy Directing. In its first two seasons The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel has also earned three Golden Globes, five Critics' Choice Awards, three SAG Awards, a PGA Award, and a Peabody Award. The series is currently beginning production in pre-production on its third season.

Sherman-Palladino began her career in the entertainment business as a staff writer on "Roseanne" during the show's third season, evolving into story editor and supervising producing posts. During her four seasons on "Roseanne," Sherman-Palladino was nominated for Emmy and Writers Guild Awards and was honored with a Peabody.

In 2000, Sherman-Palladino created the beloved television series "Gilmore Girls," which ran for seven seasons and went on to become the WB's most popular series. As creator, writer and executive producer, she brought to life the engaging story that earned widespread critical acclaim, with Time magazine listing "Gilmore Girls" among its "100 Best TV Shows of All Time."

Among later projects for Sherman-Palladino was the Fox comedy "The Return of Jezebel James," starring Parker Posey and the ABC Family dance drama "Bunheads," starring Sutton Foster.

2016 brought the highly anticipated return of "Gilmore Girls" to Netflix as a four-part mini- series. Sherman-Palladino served as executive producer, writer and director alongside her husband and frequent collaborator, writer/producer/director Palladino.

Palladino broke into series television AT ABC, spending three years on the hit "Who's the Boss?" starring Tony Danza, Judith Light and Alyssa Milano. Along with stints as a producer of the David Keith series "Flesh 'n' Blood" and as a writer for an episode of the legendary "Cheers," Palladino wrote a half-dozen episodes of "The Upper Hand," the British version of "Who's The Boss?," helping to establish a show which would go on to run seven seasons.

Palladino spent two years in the mid-1990s on "Roseanne," serving as a writer, co-executive producer, then executive producer, subsequently shepherding the Tim Curry/Annie Potts project "Over the Top."

In 2000 he began a half-dozen years on "Gilmore Girls." He wrote some of its most popular episodes and eventually segued into directing, guiding the ship on six episodes. He went on to serve in producing, writing, and directing roles on such original series as "The Return of Jezebel James" and "Bunheads."

Just prior and for a time concurrent with "Gilmore Girls," Palladino was executive producer and show runner of the Fox animated hit "Family Guy" for its initial two seasons, earning an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Animated Program for its debut season.
