LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:

FRED (Nickelodeon) - The cable channel has ordered a third film from the Lucas Cruikshank-led franchise as well as a 20-episode series of 11-minute self-contained episodes. 7.6 million viewers tuned into the original movie (9/18/10) while 5.7 million turned out for its sequel, "Night of the Living Fred" (10/22/11). Production is set to begin shortly on the series for an early 2012 premiere with the third film following later next year. Cruikshank, Varsity Pictures' Brian Robbins and Sharla Sumpter-Bridgett as well as The Collective's Evan Weiss and Gary Binkow are executive producing. (Deadline.com)
TEEN WOLF (MTV) - Michael Hogan, Stephen Lunsford and Daniel Sharman have all joined the cast of the show's second season. Hogan will play Allison's (Crystal Reed) grandfather, Gerard, "a lethal werewolf hunter who attempts to convince her to join the family business." Lunsford then is set as Matt, "a teenager with an eye for photography who will compete with Scott (Tyler Posey) for Allison's affections," with Sharman as Isaac, "a troubled student and member of the lacrosse team who will be given a 'unique gift' by new Alpha, Derek." Dylan O'Brien, Tyler Hoechlin, Holland Roden and Colton Haynes also star in the drama, which began production today in Atlanta. (THR.com)
AND IN OTHER NEWS... - Jason Biggs will stop by "The Good Wife" as a lawyer sued for refusing to release the name of one of his clients (TVLine.com); Linda Hamilton will return to "Chuck" for its two-hour series finale on January 27 (TVGuide.com); Larry Miller will guest on NBC's "Bent" as the boss of Amanda Peet's character (TVGuide.com); plus Sheryl Crow will play herself in an upcoming installment of ABC's "GCB" while Sandra Bernhard is likewise set to top by the midseason drama (TVGuide.com).
