CHICAGO (thefutoncritic.com) -- Citing promotion troubles, ABC has delayed the premiere of its new reality series "Extreme Makeover" which was set to premiere next Thursday at 9:00/8:00c.
The series, based on the November 2002 special of the same name, gives a trio of ordinary folks a chance to dramatically change their appearance, mostly through plastic surgery. Over 13 million viewers watched the special and ABC give it a series order shortly thereafter. Neither a new premiere date nor the program's replacement was announced.
Meanwhile, ABC has re-scheduled its special "Tim Allen Presents: A User's Guide to Home Improvement." Originally scheduled to air on April 1, the one-hour special will instead bow Sunday, May 4 at 8:00/7:00c. (An encore airing is also scheduled for Saturday, May 17 at 8:00/7:00c.) The special will feature Allen introducing clips from his 1991-99 ABC comedy as well as bloopers and personal reflections from being on the show. Fellow cast member Earl Hindman is also set to make an appearance.
