CHICAGO (thefutoncritic.com) - MTV's lynchpin series "The Real World" has been picked up for two additional installments, as has spin-off series "Real World/Road Rules Challenge." The news comes as no surprise after "The Real World's" latest installment (set in Las Vegas) scored its best ratings in the 12-34 demo since its debut season back in 1992 (New York City).
The pickup marks the 14th and 15th editions of the reality series. While no locations have been nailed down, San Diego has been rumored to be the next city on the show's roster. The latest installment, filmed in Paris, is set to premiere on Tuesday, June 3 at 10:00/9:00c. Seasons 14 and 15 will bow in early 2004 and late 2004 respectively.
As for "Challenge," the two-season renewal will represent its seventh and eighth editions. Season seven will kick off in September with season eight bowing in January 2004. The latest edition closed its run last week.
Both series are produced by Bunim/Murray Productions.
