'Spider-Man,' 'Newlyweds' a Go on MTV

CHICAGO (thefutoncritic.com) -- MTV has released start dates for two of its upcoming projects: a new "Spider-Man" animated series and "Newlyweds," a reality series starring the recently wed Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey. In addition, the cable channel has bumped back the premiere of "The New Tom Green Talk Show."

Here's a breakdown of the latest news:

-- "Spider-Man" is set to bow Friday, July 11 at 10:00/9:00c. The animated series, featuring the voice talents of Neil Patrick Harris, Lisa Loeb and Ian Ziering, has a 13 episode order from the channel. Additional information can be found at the series' official web site.

-- "Newlyweds," featuring the married music artists, will kick off Monday, August 4 at 10:30/9:30c. The reality series takes the place of "Surf Girls," which is set to wrap its first season the previous week.

-- And finally, "The New Tom Green Talk Show" has been bumped one week from June 16 to June 23. The series will air weeknights at midnight/11:00c.
