NBC Sends Extra 'Match' to Monday
By Brian Ford Sullivan (TFC)

CHICAGO (thefutoncritic.com) -- Tareq Kabir didn't find love on NBC's "Average Joe" but the Peacock is hoping to give him a second chance on an upcoming episode of its dramedy "Miss Match." Kabir will portray Sanjay on the series, "a doctor from a traditional Indian family who is betrothed to a young lady with slightly more modern beliefs," according to a network press release.

The episode, entitled "Whos Sari Now?", will air at a special night and time: Monday, December 15 at 10:00/9:00c, one week after regular time slot occupant "Average Joe" concludes its first season. In addition, NBC has provided air dates and descriptions for two future episodes of the series:

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 5 - "Bad Judgment"

KATE AND MICHAEL TRY TO MOVE FORWARD WITH THEIR RELATIONSHIP DESPITE INTERFERENCE FROM HIS EX WHILE KATE TRIES TO FIND THE PERFECT MATCH FOR THE JUDGE PRESIDING OVER HER CASE -- After getting over the shock of Michael's ex-girlfriend Lauren (guest star Dina Meyer) joining them for dinner, Kate (Alicia Silverstone) struggles to get her burgeoning relationship with Michael (David Conrad) off on the right foot, only to be placed in an impossible situation when Lauren goes over her head to Jerry (Ryan O'Neal) to force Kate to choose between Michael and handling Lauren's case. Meanwhile, Kate goes before Judge Blake (guest star Debra Christofferson, "Carnivale") to try her case against reality TV producer Chuck Webb (guest star Dan Butler, "Finding Frank"), whose completely manipulated show "Honeymoon Hotel" humiliated Kate's unwitting client Mia (guest star Nikita Ager, "Auto Focus") and led her to seek a divorce. The case becomes complicated by the fact that Judge Blake simultaneously hires Kate as her matchmaker and when the matches don't go so well, neither does Kate's case. James Roday, Lake Bell and Jodi Long also star.

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 12 - "Santa, Baby"

VICTORIA STARTS TO BELIEVE IN SANTA'S MAGIC WHEN KATE MAKES A HOLIDAY MATCH FOR HER BEST FRIEND; CHARISMA CARPENTER, DINA MEYER AND KERR SMITH GUEST-STAR -- Just when Kate (Alicia Silverstone) thought that Serena Lockner (guest star Charisma Carpenter, "Angel") was out of her life for good, she returns to ask Kate to represent her in adopting a baby. While Kate tries to convince Serena that babies are not the fashion accessories of the month, she is also distracted by Lauren's (guest star Dina Meyer, "Starship Troopers") divorce -- a complicated case since she and Michael (David Conrad) have to hide their relationship or Kate will lose Lauren as a client. In the meantime, Victoria (Lake Bell) moonlights as an elf in Santa's workshop at the mall and gets some naughty attention from a flirty Santa (guest star Kerr Smith, "Dawson's Creek"). James Roday and Jodi Long also star.

The news means that just two installments remain from NBC's original 13-episode order for the series. NBC executives told reporters yesterday that they expect to order several additional episodes of "Miss Match" however the exact number has yet to be determined (read the story). With the Peacock already committed to five more scripts of the series (read the story), it seems likely at least five more episodes will be produced. Said episodes along with any remaining from its initial order are then planned to premiere in March once "Ed" concludes its run in "Match's" current Friday, 9:00/8:00c slot.
