CBS Dumps 'Handler' During Sweeps
By Brian Ford Sullivan (TFC)

CHICAGO (thefutoncritic.com) -- The future of CBS' "The Handler" continued to get murkier today as the network has announced it will pre-empt both previously scheduled airings of the series during February sweeps.

The two installments, the show's 15th and 16th episodes this season, constitute the last of its production order. Repeats of CBS' various dramas are expected to fill the Friday, 10:00/9:00c hour after tonight's broadcast, beginning with a repeat of "Cold Case" next week.

It's not clear if and when "The Handler" will return to the Eye's schedule. For those interested, here's the official descriptions of the final two installments, taken from CBS' original press releases:

LILYS UNDERCOVER MISSION TO INFILTRATE A MOB FAMILY LEADS TO A MARRIAGE PROPOSAL, ON "THE HANDLER," FRIDAY, FEB. 6

"The Wedding Party" -- Lilys undercover mission to infiltrate a mob family leads to a marriage proposal from the bosss son, on THE HANDLER, Friday, Feb. 6 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Rob Bailey directed the episode written by Jim Kouf and Alan DiFiore.

Joe assigns Lily to an undercover mission in which she must get close to the mob bosss son. She succeeds at gaining his trust and the son quickly falls in love with her and proposes marriage. With Joe posing as the father of the bride and Marcy in place as the wedding planner, its looking like Lily might actually have to go through with the wedding in order for Joe to nail the mob boss and his cronies.

JOE AND HIS CREW INFILTRATE A DATING SERVICE IN ORDER TO CATCH A WOMAN SUSPECTED OF KILLING HER DATES, ON "THE HANDLER," FRIDAY, FEB. 13

Annabella Sciorra ("The Sopranos") Guest Stars

"The Big Fall" -- Joe and his agents infiltrate a dating service in order to catch a woman who is suspected of killing several of her past dates, on THE HANDLER, Friday, Feb. 13 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Leon Ichaso directed the episode written by Jim Kouf and Alan DiFiore.

Annabella Sciorra ("The Sopranos") guest stars as lethal temptress Caroline Glenwood, suspected of murdering more than one of the wealthy men she has met through dating services. Joe, posing as a potential suitor, puts his crew in place posing as dating service employees in order to stop Glenwood before she kills again.
