CBS Adds 'America's Tribal Council' Special of 'Survivor'

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- CBS is handing out a second $1 million prize for "Survivor: All-Stars," in addition to the cool million earned by last night's winner Amber Brkich. The extra winner will be announced on Thursday, May 13 at 8:00/7:00c as part of the special "Survivor: America's Tribal Council."

Jeff Probst To Host The Live Event Which Will Also Feature The Results Of Additional Viewer Polls, Clips From The First Eight Installments of "Survivor" And Conversations With The 18 All-Star Castaways

CBS, in partnership with Cingular Wireless, is giving viewers the opportunity to cast their vote for one Survivor to win $1 million with the winner revealed on a special LIVE broadcast of SURVIVOR: AMERICA'S TRIBAL COUNCIL, Thursday, May 13 (8:00-9:00 PM, LIVE ET/delayed PT). Jeff Probst will host the event, which will also feature the 18 castaways of SURVIVOR: ALL-STARS, along with results of additional viewer polls and highlights from previous seasons.

In addition to casting their vote for the survivor they believe deserves the $1 million prize, viewers can also vote for their favorite "Survivor" moment, their favorite villain, best fight and who they think are the sexiest survivors ever.

Viewers can vote via their wireless phones by messaging their favorite SURVIVOR ALL STAR NAME to 26161 or by logging on to www.cbs.com. Text voting is open to Cingular and most other wireless carrier customers. Standard text message rates apply. Voting ends on Wednesday, May 12th at 11:59 PM, ET.

Additionally, SURVIVOR: THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON, arrives on DVD Tuesday, May 11 as a five-disc box set (disc five is the disc that was previously released on DVD in January 2001). The DVD collection features all 12 episodes from Season One plus the two-hour finale and town hall meeting, along with audio commentaries by Jeff Probst, Richard Hatch, Gervase Peterson and Rudy Boesch. THE SEARCH IS ON FOR 16 NEW SURVIVORS!!!

Applications for the Tenth Installment of "Survivor" Can Be Obtained Exclusively at CBS.com

The search is on for 16 new survivors!!! Application forms for the tenth installment of SURVIVOR are available exclusively at www.CBS.com. Application forms are being accepted now through June 22, 2004 at 5:00 PM, PT and must be accompanied by a three-minute videotape.

Additionally, open casting calls will be conducted at participating CBS owned-and- affiliated stations across the country in order to provide hopefuls with a means to make a three-minute videotape. Details regarding the open casting calls will be announced at a later date by participating cities.

Once all the tapes have been reviewed, the producers will fly to cities across the country to conduct in-person interviews with the selected semi-finalists. These interviews will then be used to determine the finalists who will fly to Los Angeles for additional interviews and extensive physical, psychological and background checks. A final cutdown will form the group of 16 who will participate in the tenth installment of SURVIVOR, to be broadcast in 2005.

The program will once again feature 24-hour-a-day camera coverage to chronicle the relationships and conflicts that develop. Viewers will watch as strangers are forced to rely on one another to survive while also being forced to eliminate each other in order to claim the title of "Sole Survivor" and the $1 million prize. At the conclusion of each episode, the participants will be required to form a tribal council and conduct a secret-ballot vote to expel one of their colleagues from the tribe. In the final episode of the series, two finalists will be judged by the seven individuals previously voted off. These seven will cast their votes and determine the sole survivor.

The location for the tenth installment of SURVIVOR has yet to be announced.
