Comedy Central Tees Up Additional Premiere Dates

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- With a summer already filled with new programming ranging from "Reno 911" to "The Graham Norton Effect," Comedy Central has added several new and returning series to its upcoming schedule.

Here's a breakdown of the latest moves:

-- The cable channel has slated the third season of "Crank Yankers" to premiere on Tuesday, July 20 while the animated comedy "Shorties Watching Shorties" will return with new installments on Wednesday, September 8.

-- No stranger to theatricals, Comedy Central will offer the network premieres of "Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back" (July 5), "Not Another Teen Movie" (July 26), "Corky Romano" (August 16), "Bulworth" (September 19), "Slackers" (September 26), "The Sweetest Thing" (November 7) and "Orange County" (November 28) as part of its new Monday night movie slot in the coming months.

-- "Insomniac with Dave Attell" will return with two new one-hour specials in the second half of 2004. The first, "Sloshed in Translation," premieres Sunday, August 22 while the second hits on Sunday, November 21.

-- The network also plans to add two new series in the fall: the self-described first-ever "animated reality" series "Drawn Together" debuts on Wednesday, October 20 following the first of a new batch of "South Park" episodes while the Wanda Sykes project "I Can Do That" launches on Tuesday, October 5.

-- Lastly, Comedy Central will broadcast the popular HBO special "Chris Rock: Bigger and Blacker" on Sunday, October 3 while a new 90-minute special, "Bill Engvall: Here's Your Sign," airs on Sunday, July 25.
