LOVE IS IN THE AIR ON 'ER'

MADCHEN AMICK ('TWIN PEAKS') WILL RECUR IN FREQUENT GUEST STAR ROLE ON NBC'S 'ER' AS SOCIAL WORKER WHO IS ATTRACTED TO DR. CARTER IN FALL EPISODES

BURBANK, Calif. - August 19, 2004 - Madchen Amick ("Twin Peaks," "Face to Face") will recur as a frequent guest star on NBC's "ER" (Thursdays, 10-11 p.m. ET) this Fall as an idealistic social worker who arrives in the emergency room and finds herself romantically attracted to Dr. Carter (Noah Wyle).

Amick will first appear in the popular drama series' fourth episode. "ER" returns for its 11th season (all on Thursdays, 10-11 p.m. ET) on September 23.

After first gaining notice for her performance as Shelley Johnson in the quirky drama series "Twin Peaks," Amick later co-starred in the same role in the feature-film version, "Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me." Amick also starred as a series regular in "Central Park West," "The Fifth Corner" and "Fantasy Island." Among her feature credits are "Face to Face," "Scenes of the Crime," "Test of Fate," "Wounded," "Dream Lover" and "Sleepwalkers."

In addition, Amick's prolific television movie credits include NBC's "Mr. Rock 'n' Roll: The Alan Freed Story," "The Hunted," "Hangman," "Heartless," "Love, Cheat & Steal" and "For the Very First Time." She also guest-starred last December on NBC's "Ed" and earlier in episodes of "The Gilmore Girls."

Created by best-selling author Michael Crichton ("Jurassic Park"), the series centers on the medical personnel in the emergency room of a Chicago hospital. Crichton is also an executive producer, along with John Wells ("China Beach") and Christopher Chulack. "ER" is a production of Constant c Productions and Amblin Television in association with Warner Bros. Television.
