Powered by the performance of its original series, USA Network was the #1 Basic Cable network for Summer in homes and total viewers

August is highest-rated and most-watched month; #1 in households, key demos and total viewers

New York, NY, August 31, 2004 � USA Network was the #1 basic cable network this summer (June �August) in homes and total viewers, powered by the success of original series The 4400, Monk and The Dead Zone. With 2.5 millions viewers tuning in on average during primetime (M-F 8-11P), USA was not only the top-ranked basic cable net but had more actual growth (+469,000 homes and 614,000 total viewers) than any other basic cable network.

The network's growth was due in large part to the performance of its original series. USA boasts three of basic cable's four most-watched original series for the summer of 2004.

�The 4400 was the summer's top original basic cable series, besting all others in terms of household rating (4.7), P25-54 delivery (3.1 million), P18-49 (2.9 million) and viewers tuning in (6.2 million).

�The summer season of the Emmy�-winning Monk averaged a 4.1 rating in households with over 5.1 million viewers tuning in weekly. The show's summer run's average was up +18% in household rating, +23% in P25-54 delivery and +16% in P18-49 delivery over summer season two's average.

�The summer of USA's long-running hit, The Dead Zone averaged a 2.7 in household rating with 3.5 million viewers tuning in weekly. The season's average was up +22% in household rating, +27% in P25-54 delivery and +23% in P18-49 delivery over summer season two's average.

USA Network was also the most-watched and highest-rated network in primetime on basic cable for month of August, turning in a 2.2 household rating. In addition to its win for the full summer, USA Network was also tops in August '04, making a clean sweep of first place in both delivery and pure growth against homes (1,923,000 up 509,000), persons 2+ (2,595,000 up 671,000), A25-54 (1,251,000 up 317,000) and A18-49 (1,144,000 up 351,000).
