Burbank, CA (September 7, 2004) ABC Family celebrates SMALLVILLE and GILMORE GIRLS joining the channel with the premiere of two original specials. Saturday, Oct. 2 (8:00 9:00 PM ET/PT) ABC Family will premiere an original SMALLVILLE BACKSTAGE SPECIAL and on Sunday, Oct. 3 (8:00 9:00 PM ET/PT) an original GILMORE GIRLS BACKSTAGE SPECIAL, both featuring the cast sharing their favorite moments over the past three seasons. Then on Monday, Oct. 4 fans and new viewers can catch every episode of both series in sequence beginning with season one, when ABC Family begins airing GILMORE GIRLS (5:00 6:00 PM ET/PT) and SMALLVILLE (7:00 8:00 PM ET/PT) weekdays.

The SMALLVILLE BACKSTAGE SPECIAL will feature Tom Welling (Clark Kent), Kristin Kreuk (Lana Lang), John Schneider (Jonathan Kent), Annette O'Toole (Martha Kent), Allison Mack (Chloe) and John Glover (Lionel Luther), and be filmed on the Kent farm, taking viewers to one of the key locations of the Smallville series. Hosted by Brooke Burke ("Wild On"), the cast will recount their experiences during the past three seasons and discuss their favorite episodes and humorous moments on the set. Reinterpreting the Superman mythology from its roots, SMALLVILLE was written and developed by Alfred Gough & Miles Millar ("Shanghai Noon," "Spiderman 2"), based on the DC Comics characters. Gough and Millar serve as executive producers, along with Greg Beeman, Mike Tollin, Brian Robbins, Joe Davola and Ken Horton. The series is produced by Tollin/Robbins Productions and Warner Bros. Television. SUPERMAN was created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Schuster.

The GILMORE GIRLS BACKSTGE SPECIAL, also hosted by Brooke Burke, will feature Lauren Graham (Lorelai Gilmore), Alexis Bledel (Rory Gilmore), Scott Patterson (Luke), Kelly Bishop (Emily Gilmore), Edward Herrmann (Richard Gilmore), Liza Weil (Paris), Keiko Agena (Lane), Liz Torres (Miss Patty), Yanic Truesdale (Michel) and Sean Gunn (Kirk). In a round table setting filmed on the Gilmore Girls' set, the cast will discuss their characters and experiences on the show including favorite episodes, favorite guest stars and funny moments. Entering its fifth season this fall, the heartfelt one-hour dramedy was created by Amy Sherman-Palladino ("Roseanne"), who serves as executive producer with Daniel Palladino ("Roseanne," "Family Guy"). Also credited with executive producer is Gavin Polone ("Stir of Echoes," "Drop Dead Gorgeous").

The SMALLVILLE BACKSTAGE SPECIAL and GILMORE GIRLS BACKSTAGE SPECIAL are both Andrew Solt Productions.
