Karen O'Neil-Ganci Is the 10th Houseguest Officially Evicted from the 'Big Brother 5' House

KAREN O'NEIL-GANCI IS THE 10TH HOUSEGUEST OFFICIALLY EVICTED FROM THE "BIG BROTHER 5" HOUSE

STUDIO CITY, CALIF., Sept. 10 -- After being nominated for eviction by Jennifer (Nakomis) Dedmon, the 10th Head of Household, Karen O'Neil-Ganci was evicted last night from the BIG BROTHER 5 house by her fellow HouseGuests.

On Tuesday, Diane Henry won the Power of Veto and chose to remove herself from the block. Nakomis had no choice but to put Karen on the block alongside Michael Ellis.

Karen received two votes for eviction from HouseGuests Diane Henry and Drew Daniel. Nakomis was ineligible to vote as Head of Household unless there had been a tie.

During last night's live broadcast, the portrait artist from Saddle Brook, N.J., learned her fate, said her good-byes and left the house. After leaving BIG BROTHER 5, Karen was interviewed by Julie Chen about her experience. Karen becomes the fifth member of the jury, joining Marvin Latimer, twin sisters Adria Klein and Natalie Carroll, and Will Wikle.

The HouseGuests then competed in the game, "Before and After," to see who would become the next Head of Household. Drew, the 22-year-old college graduate from Urbana, OH, won the coveted position for the third time.

Each Thursday, the HouseGuests compete to become Head of Household. The perks of the position include having a luxurious private bedroom stocked with favorite foods and use of the new plasma screen to spy on the other HouseGuests, but it also includes the responsibility of having to nominate two fellow housemates for eviction. However, one of the nominees can be saved from the chopping block if they or another housemate wins the Power of Veto competition and chooses to save one of the nominees while giving themselves immunity from nomination. If they choose to use the veto, the Head of Household must immediately choose another nominee.

The winner of BIG BROTHER 5 will be announced on the season finale on Tuesday, Sept. 21 (8:00-9:00 PM, Live ET/Delayed PT) when the seven-member jury will vote to determine which of the two remaining HouseGuests will win the grand prize.
