SANTA MONICA, Calif., Dec. 14 -- - Winners in 24 categories were announced tonight during the LIVE telecast (9:00-11:00 PM ET) of Spike TV "Video Game Awards 2004." Rockstar Games' "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas" was the big winner of the second annual awards, taking home four "Vector Monkey" trophies. The Spike TV "Video Game Awards" were hosted by Snoop Dogg and encore telecasts of the show can be seen on Saturday, Dec. 18 (2:00-4:00 PM, ET/PT & 1:00-3:00 AM, ET/PT) and Monday, Dec. 20 (11:00 PM-1:00 AM, ET/PT).

Winners for the Spike TV Video Game Awards were determined by votes from Spike TV's Advisory Board, made up of a group of gaming industry experts, and consumer voting. Viewers exclusively determined the winner in three award categories -- - the Fan Favorite awards of "Best Gaming Publication" and "Best Gaming Website" and the Viewers Choice award for "Most Addictive Game." More than 4.6 million gamers and Spike TV viewers logged on to cast their votes for their favorite games.

In addition to presenting awards for the best games of 2004, the show featured a sneak peek to some of the most anticipated and talked about games for 2005. The Spike TV Video Game Awards 2004 featured the exclusive World Premiere game play & footage of two video games of 2005 -- Midway Games' "Fear & Respect" from John Singelton and Electronic Arts' "The Godfather." Also showcased the upcoming "Need for Speed Underground Rivals" for the Sony PSP, available in 2005.

The show included LIVE musical performance by Snoop Dogg & Pharrell; Motley Crue, Ludacris, Sum 41 and Busta Rhymes, Method Man & Red Man in first- ever "Def Jam: Fight For New York" performance. Celebrity appearances included Brooke Burke, Samuel L. Jackson, Vin Diesel, Green Day, Giovanni Ribisi, Gabrielle Union, Tara Reid, Papa Roach, Tony Hawk, John Singleton, Danny Masterson, Frankie Muniz, Bai Ling, Ron Perlman, Bam Margera, Freddy Adu, Fabolous, Bobby Crosby & Barry Zito and Michelle Rodriguez among others.
