TLC Stars Kick Off Two New Series This January

- Popular Designers Genevieve Gorder and Doug Wilson from TRADING SPACES Present Two New Series on TLC Beginning January 22 and 29, 2005 -

SILVER SPRING, Md., Jan. 13 -- TLC stars Genevieve Gorder and Doug Wilson are hosting two new series premiering on TLC in January. First, Gorder hosts TOWN HAUL, a 12-episode series premiering Saturday, January 22, at 10 PM (ET/PT), in which she works with community volunteers to create big change in small towns across America. Next, Wilson joins homeowners who come face to face with the new residents of their old homes in MOVING UP, premiering Saturday, January 29, at 8 PM (ET/PT). In addition, both Gorder and Wilson will continue their roles as two of the popular designers on TLC's TRADING SPACES.

In TOWN HAUL, Genevieve and her team lead a modern-day barn raising, working with small-town residents to help create social change in their communities through design, rehabilitation and new construction. Everyone gets in on the act, from the mayor (who is also the town mechanic) to local business owners, from the town gossip to the town loner; communities take center stage with TOWN HAUL as they come together for an unforgettable display of teamwork and determination. In the first six episodes, viewers see residents of Jeffersonville, N.Y. give a new look to their Main Street, update the look of local businesses, design and construct an apartment for town icon "Cowboy" Bob and more. The ups and downs, tensions and triumphs that take place as the community pulls together make for an unforgettable television event. A subsequent six-episode installment of TOWN HAUL will premiere in March featuring Laurens, S.C.

"TOWN HAUL is all about the importance of creativity to a community's spirit and how, through design, we can solve social problems, define who we are as people, and as neighbors," Gorder said. "Rather than designing just a bedroom or a living room, design on this grand of a scale will help viewers see how a creative vision can impact the way an entire community lives and functions."

For his part, Doug Wilson hosts a new series that asks "Have you ever wondered what happens to your home once you move out?" In MOVING UP, viewers follow a chain of new homeowners who move into one another's homes and begin the design and renovation process that occurs during the first six months of adjusting to their new digs. The new homeowners -- young and old, families, couples and other roommate combinations -- have plenty to say about their new environs (and their old!), many decisions to make and numerous design choices and renovations to implement.

At the end of each MOVING UP episode, Wilson convenes the former homeowners and asks them to comment on the changes in their old homes -- and some of their reactions will surprise you! Taste is put to the test in MOVING UP and Wilson is there to invoke fond memories, humorous observations and cantankerous commentary.

"I am excited to work on MOVING UP as TLC continues to transform homes across the country, one room at a time," Wilson said. "Changing the look and feel of a space should not be intimidating, but sometimes you just don't know where to start. We want to show America that no matter what surprises the previous tenants left behind, compelling and dramatic design that fits your personality is just around the corner."

TOWN HAUL is produced for TLC by True Entertainment; Terri Johnson is executive producer for TLC; Glenda Hersh and Steven Weinstock are executive producers for True Entertainment. TOWN HAUL is sponsored in part by GMC Truck, The Home Depot, Mastercard and Swiffer.

MOVING UP is produced for TLC by BBC Productions USA. The executive producer for BBC is Abigail Harvey. Julie Rose McCully is TLC's executive producer for MOVING UP.
