By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:

Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our newly revamped "Series in Development" charts. Visitors can now filter our listings by network, genre and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!

AMERICAN DAD/FAMILY GUY (FOX) - FOX is moving forward with 13 additional episodes of each of the Seth MacFarlane-produced animated comedies. The network had previously committed to 19 episodes of "American Dad" and 22 episodes of "Family Guy," bring each series' total to 32 and 35 episodes respectively. The news comes as little surprise for both series as FOX asked for eight additional scripts of "Dad" back in November (read the story) while 20th Century Fox Television committed to "Guy's" full 35-episode production run as part of its initial revival (FOX simply picked up its option to air the remaining 13 installments). Overall, enough episodes of both series should be in the can to last through the first part of the 2006-07 season.

BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE (ABC Family) - The cable channel has confirmed the original series will premiere Monday, August 8 at 10:00/9:00c. ABC Family has committed to eight one-hour episodes of the Sony Pictures Television-based project, which comes from executive producers Michael Rauch, who wrote the pilot, and Paul Stupin. Here's how the network's press materials describe "People": "BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE is the fictional story of the Kerr family - three dynamic women in transitional periods of their lives. When Sophie receives a scholarship to attend a prestigious private school in New York, the girls convince their mother that they should all move to the city from their quiet hometown in New Mexico. They find the city full of challenges, but with each other's support, all three women venture on a journey of self discovery. Starring Daphne Zuniga, Sarah Foret, Torrey DeVitto, Ricky Mabe, Jordan Madley, Kathleen Munroe and Jackson Rathbone."

CAMPUS CONFIDENTIAL (ABC Family) - The original movie has been slated to premiere on Sunday, August 21 with airings at 7:00/6:00c and 9:00/8:00c. Here's show ABC Family describes the project: "Violet is in for the shock of her life when she goes from urban to suburban and finds a drastic difference between schools. Not only is there a popular crowd, but even the teachers' show blatant favoritism. With her acerbic wit and acute sense of social justice, Violet decides to take matters into her own hands and use her first amendment right to start a school tabloid that exposes the embarrassing secrets of the popular kids that rule the school. She soon finds out that the pen is mightier than the sword and must now try to heal the deep wounds she has cast. Starring Christy Carlson Romano and Katey Sagal. Produced by Julie Yorn, Marc Gordon and Paul Frank. Teleplay by David Kukoff and Matt Roshkow. Director Melanie Mayron ("thirtysomething")."

HAUNTING SARAH (Lifetime, New!) - Kim Raver ("24") has booked the lead roles in an upcoming Lifetime original movie, a supernatural-themed project involving identical twins Erica and Heather Rose (both played by Raver). Said project, which is targeting a October premiere, revolves around the connection between the twins' respective children as Sarah (the daughter of Erica) reveals that David (the deceased son of Heather) is contacting her from beyond the grave. No other details were available about the telefilm.

SCI FI FRIDAY ORIGINAL SERIES (Sci Fi) - As a warm-up to the return of Sci Fi's Friday original lineup on July 15, the network has scheduled all-day marathons of all three series. Each marathon will run from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 a.m. eastern time with "Battlestar Galactica" on Wednesday, July 6, "Stargate SG-1" on Thursday, July 7 and "Stargate Atlantis" on Friday, July 8. No details however were given about exactly which episodes will air.
