LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- CBS has given a midseason order of eight episodes to its Tom Cavanaugh-led drama pilot "Love Monkey," about four male friends at different stages of life and love as told from the point of view of a single, thirtysomething record executive (Cavanagh).
The project, whose ensemble cast includes Jason Priestley, Judy Greer, Larenz Tate and Christopher Wiehl, is based on Kyle Smith's 2004 novel of the same name with Michael Rauch ("Beautiful People") and Mark Johnson ("The Notebook") serving as executive producers. John Wirth had previously been attached as showrunner, however he's since moved on to similar duties on fellow Eye newcomer "Ghost Whisperer."
The Sony Pictures Television/Paramount Network Television-based "Love Monkey" joins CBS's midseason roster of comedies "Everything I Know About Men" and "Old Christine" as well as the drama "The Unit."
