Lights Out for HBO's 'Comeback,' E!'s 'Taradise'
By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- Two freshman series - HBO's "The Comeback" and E!'s "Taradise" - won't be returning for second seasons, their respective networks confirmed this week.

The Lisa Kudrow-led "Comeback" wrapped its run earlier this month to the tune of 920,000 viewers, down 39.07% from its debut (1.51 million on 6/5/05) and 56.19% from lead-in "Entourage" (2.1 million on 9/4/05). "Entourage" conversely saw its audience grow by 32.08% from its season premiere (1.59 million on 6/5/05) to its finale.

"We've looked at our schedule, and given our future commitments, we felt we would not be able to give the show the support it needed," an HBO spokeswoman told the Hollywood Reporter.

As for "Taradise," the Tara Reid-hosted series likewise won't be getting a sophomore run. "The show was incredibly difficult to produce with someone well-known," E! Networks President Ted Harbert told Broadcasting & Cable. "Tara was involved in every minute, and it was an exhausting production."

In terms of viewership, the series - which currently airs Wednesdays at 10:00/9:00c - reportedly was on par with E!'s primetime average of about 400,000 viewers. It's also understood only 12 of the 13 planned episodes will actually air (number eight is due to run tomorrow night). No reason however was given for the shelving of the 13th installment.
