COMEDY CENTRAL(R) Announces Cross-Carrier Wireless Deal for 'South Park' Mobile Content
'Chappelle's Show' Season Three Video Clip to Be Available Exclusively
on Amp'd Mobile Through January 2006
For The First Time Ever 'South Park' and 'Chappelle's Show'
Will Be Available on Mobile Phones Beginning January 2006
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5 -- COMEDY CENTRAL, the leading provider of
mobile entertainment content, announced today that "South Park" and
"Chappelle's Show" programming will be available on mobile phones beginning in
January 2006. This is the first mobile content deal for both of the hit
COMEDY CENTRAL shows.
"These deals further represent COMEDY CENTRAL's multi-platform strategy to
deliver content anywhere, anytime," said Michele Ganeless, executive vice
president and general manager, COMEDY CENTRAL. "We are committed to giving
our audience quality programming beyond the boundaries of television. With
the mobile launch of 'South Park' and 'Chappelle's Show,' two of the top-rated
shows on our network, COMEDY CENTRAL is leading the charge in the wireless
entertainment content arena."
The "South Park" mobile deal will include ringtones, ringbacks, voicemail,
wallpapers, video and games. Content will be available on major carriers and
mobile subscribers will be able to download wallpaper, ringtones and games at
the COMEDY CENTRAL Mobile Storefront. "South Park," the Emmy-Awarding winning
series is now in its ninth season and remains the highest-rated series on
COMEDY CENTRAL.
Amp'd Mobile, which recently announced a strategic alliance with MTV
Networks, will be the exclusive carrier for the "Chappelle's Show" season
three video clip through January 2006. The two-and-half minute clip contains
footage of the long-awaited and just-announced season three. The
Emmy-nominated "Chappelle's Show" set record numbers with the release of its
Season One and Season Two DVDs. "Chappelle's Show: Season One Uncensored"
DVD, released on February 24, 2004, is the best-selling TV on DVD Title.
"Chappelle's Show: Season 2 Uncensored" DVD hit retail stores nationwide on
May 24, 2005 and stands as the fastest-selling TV on DVD title in history.
