The Mystery of ABC Family's Highest Rated Drama "Kyle XY" is Extended with a Second Season Pickup

Burbank, CA (August 4, 2006) ABC Family has picked up the hit original scripted series Kyle XY for a second season, with an order of 13 one-hour original episodes, it was announced today by Paul Lee, President, ABC Family. KYLE XY, produced by Touchstone Television, was a breakout summer hit for ABC Family garnering the best ratings for an original series in the channels history. The ensemble cast includes newcomer Matt Dallas (Entourage), Marguerite McIntyre (The Days), Bruce Thomas (Legally Blonde), April Matson (Quintuplets) and Jean-Luc Bilodeau (Ill Fated), Chris Olivero (24), Kirsten Prout (Elektra) and Nicholas Lea (X-Files).

"'Kyle has thrilled us from its premiere night - we couldn't be happier to bring it back for a second season. Matt Dallas is truly a breakout star for us, and Kyle XY is truly a defining show. It was great to see Kyle succeed not just on cable, but on ABC, on iTunes, and on our broadband player."

KYLE XY rates as ABC Familys most-watched original series in the history of the network in Total Viewers (2.08 million), Adults 18-34 (336,000) and Adults 18-49 (793,000). Even last Mondays episode, on July 31st, was the second most-watched on record and drew the series second best numbers yet on ABC Family in Total Viewers (2.41 million), Adults 18-34 (368,00) and Adults 18-49 (942,000), ranking among basic cables Top 5 in the hour competitively. "This is good business. Kyle is a hit for the studio, ABC Family and the company," said Mark Pedowitz, president, Touchstone Television. "We are incredibly proud of the production values on this series and thankful for the strong marketing support from ABC Family. We look forward to continuing the success with "Three Moons Over Milford."

After being found wandering in traffic and put in an institution, he meets psychologist Nicole Trager (MacIntyre), who brings him home, much to the chagrin of her two children Lori (Matson) and Josh (Bilodeau). Even her husband Stephen (Thomas) is a bit wary of his wifes latest patient. As Kyle begins to show signs of brilliance, solving the mystery of his origin and potential abilities becomes the familys mission.

Distributed in over 89 million homes, ABC Family features original movies, series and specials. Storytelling about today's relationships with all of their diversity, dysfunction, humor and passion.
