Riggle To Make First Appearance This Week

NEW YORK, September 19, 2006 -- Comedian Rob Riggle joins the illustrious ranks of fake news reporters as part of the Emmy and Peabody Award-winning "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" joining current correspondents Dan Bakkedahl, Samantha Bee, Jason Jones and John Oliver to form the heart of the "Daily Show" News Team. Riggle's first appearance will be in-studio later this week. "The Daily Show" airs Monday through Thursday at 11:00 p.m. ET/PT.

Riggle was born in Louisville, KY and raised in Overland Park, KS. He is a former U.S. Marine who rose to the rank of Major and was awarded over 18 medals and ribbons. After serving his country, he began performing sketch and improv comedy in New York and Los Angeles and has done so for the past eight years. Riggle has appeared in numerous television shows including "Arrested Development," "Saturday Night Live," and "The Office." He also appeared in this summer's "Talladega Nights: The Legend of Ricky Bobby," starring Will Ferrell.

In addition to his appearance this week and in subsequent shows, Riggle will be a part of the team traveling to the heart of America's most hotly contested swing state to cover the midterm elections. "Battlefield Ohio: 'The Daily Show's' Midwest Midterm Midtacular" will be taped at the Roy Bowen Theatre at the Ohio State University and will air nightly at 11:00 p.m. from Monday, October 30 through Thursday, November 2.

The series will also air a half-hour election night special live from COMEDY CENTRAL's World News Headquarters in New York City featuring up-to-the-minute results of the day's races from across the country. "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart 'Indecision 2006' Election Night Special" premieres Tuesday, November 7 at 11:00 p.m. ET (tape delayed on West Coast).

The nine-time Emmy and two-time Peabody Award-winning "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" was launched in the summer of 1996. The nightly news satire takes a reality-based look at news, trends, pop culture, current events, politics, sports, entertainment and the media. In each show, Stewart and a team of correspondents, including Dan Bakkedahl, Samantha Bee, Jason Jones, John Oliver and Rob Riggle, comment on the day's stories employing actual news footage, taped field pieces, in-studio guests and on-the-spot coverage of important news events.

Jon Stewart and Ben Karlin are the executive producers of "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" with Kahane Corn serving as co-executive producer. The series' head writer is David Javerbaum who is also supervising producer. Chuck O'Neil is the director.

Each episode of "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" repeats at 1:00 a.m. the same night and at 8:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. the following day.
