NBC'S CARSON DALY TO HOST LIVE NEW YEAR'S EVE SPECIAL FROM TIMES SQUARE WITH LIVE PERFORMANCES BY THE YEAR'S HOTTEST BAND -- PANIC! AT THE DISCO

"NBC's New Year's Eve with Carson Daly" Will Broadcast Live on December 31 at 11:30 p.m. (ET/PT)

Special Will Also Be Simulcast on MSNBC, CNBC and Bravo, with Live Streaming Coverage on NBC.com

BURBANK November 14, 2006 Continuing NBC's long-standing tradition of live New Year's Eve coverage in Times Square, Carson Daly will host the third-annual "NBC's New Year's Eve with Carson Daly" (December 31, 11:30 p.m. ET/PT). The one-hour special will include performances by platinum-selling rock band Panic! At the Disco and up-to-the minute coverage of all of the action in Times Square. The announcement was made by Rick Ludwin, Executive Vice President, Late Night and Primetime Series, NBC Entertainment.

On December 31, "NBC's New Year's Eve with Carson Daly" will air immediately following "Sunday Night Football" and is scheduled from 11:30 p.m.-12:30 a.m. (ET/PT) on NBC. For the first time in the history of the network's New Year's Eve coverage, the one-hour special will be simulcast on MSNBC, CNBC and Bravo, with Daly also hosting a 30-minute, pre-show special from 11:00-11:30 p.m. (ET) that will air on MSNBC and Bravo. In addition, NBC.com will stream live the pre-show and the one-hour special.

"This year, we have changed our broadcasting model for New Year's Eve coverage. Our special will air simultaneously on the network and other NBC Universal Television properties, as well as stream live on NBC.com," said Ludwin. "More viewers than ever before will be able to count down the minutes to midnight and watch the ball drop with Carson in Times Square."

Broadcasting from the best position in Times Square, Daly will cover all of the excitement leading up to the countdown to 2007 and will welcome platinum-selling band Panic! At the Disco, who will perform two of the songs from their album "A Fever You Can't Sweat Out."

"We'll have 'Panic! At the Disco' -- the hottest new band -- headlining a show that will make our viewers feel like they're right there at the world's greatest party," Daly said. "I'm also grateful to NBC Universal for allowing me temporary control over most of their television empire."

Panic! At the Disco is comprised of four members (Ryan Ross-guitar; Spencer Smith-drums; Brendon Urie-guitar/vocals; and Jon Walker-bass) and has had a hugely successful year. Hailing from Las Vegas, Panic! burst onto the music scene in 2005 and has sold over 1.3 million copies of their debut album. This year, the band won the prized Video of the Year category for their single "I Write Sins Not Tragedies" at MTV's Video Music Awards and has remained on the Billboard 200 for 48 weeks. Last month, Panic! graced the cover of Spin magazine and was referred to by the magazine as rock's hottest new band. They recently launched their U.S. tour and will begin working on their sophomore album in January.

Daly's late-night TV show "Last Call with Carson Daly" will celebrate its fifth anniversary in early 2007.

"NBC's New Year's Eve with Carson Daly" is executive-produced by Daly ("Last Call with Carson Daly") and David Friedman ("Last Call with Carson Daly") through NBC Universal Television Studio and Carson Daly Productions. Steve Paley ("Last Call with Carson Daly") directs.
