ABCS UGLY BETTY DESIGN A DRESS WINNER IS RICARDO RODRIGUEZ OF FORT LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA

Winning Dress Design Will Be Incorporated Into the February 15 Episode, Derailed; Designer Received a Trip for Two to Los Angeles, CA for the Taping

Ricardo Rodriguez of Fort Lauderdale, FL is the haute designer and winner of the Ugly Betty Design a Dress contest. A dress inspired by Mr. Rodriguez winning design will be incorporated into ABCs Golden Globe-winning series, Ugly Betty, on February 15. In addition, Mr. Rodriguez received a trip for two to Los Angeles for the taping of the episode Derailed that features his design. Nearly 1800 aspiring designers entered the contest on ABC.com, where the winning design and several other submissions will be available for viewing.

In Derailed, Christina (Ashley Jensen), Modes resident keeper of the closet of high fashion clothes and accessories, is commissioned to design a chic dress for a prominent celebrity. The problem is she only has twelve hours to execute her design, and a blizzard in New York keeps her from her fabric suppliers. Desperate, Christina turns to the offices of Mode for inspiration and uses everyday office supplies to make her creation. Mr. Rodriguez elegant cocktail dress made use of bubble wrap and newspaper, and provided inspiration for the February 15 episode of this seasons highest rated new comedy.
