A&E NETWORK AND A&E INDIEFILMS PRESENTS STREET THIEF

Premieres Thursday, June 21st at 10PM ET/PT

New York, NY May 29, 2007 A&E IndieFilms, known for such Oscar nominated films as Jesus Camp and Murderball, brings its latest project exclusively to the television screen. STREET THIEF, which stunned audiences at the 2006 Tribeca Film Festival, is making its world television premiere exclusively on A&E, Thursday, June 21st at 10:00PM ET/PT. STREET THIEF purports to document the robberies of an actual thief, from the early planning stages, all the way through the break-in, theft and getaway. As viewers watch crimes and break-ins unfold in incredible verit, the suspense of STREET THIEF is greatly compounded by the mystery of whether or not the film is an actual documentary or a fictional feature.

The film features two filmmakers documenting the daily lives of ordinary career criminals. What they didn't expect was to end up spending a year in the life of Kaspar Carr - a reclusive man whose skills have made him one of Chicago's most prolific and elusive burglars. As the filmmakers delve into this highly successful thief's personal life, Kaspar's true motivation continues to elude them. Ultimately Kaspar draws them into his world in a way they never expected.

Borrowing from the traditions of film noir and cinema verit, STREET THIEF, creates a new, exhilarating genre of filmmaking; tapping into our voyeuristic obsession with crime while questioning the very nature of the genre itself.

STREET THIEF is produced by Bader Brothers for A&E IndieFilms with Director Malik Bader, Executive Producer Derrick Grahn, Producer Sam Badar and Producer Nadav Kurtz. Robert Sharenow and Molly Thompson serve as Executive Producers for A&E IndieFilms.
