HBO Books 'Extras' Finale; Usa, Showtime Set Winter Plans

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- HBO has set an exit date for "Extras" while several other networks have lined up their winter premieres.

"The Extra Special Series Finale" will air Sunday, December 16 at 9:00/8:00c. The 83-minute special reportedly features appearances by Clive Owen, David Tennant, Gordon Ramsay and George Michael among others.

Meanwhile in other cable news:

-- USA has booked its third annual "Monk" holiday special for Friday, December 7 at 9:00/8:00c. The episode, entitled "Mr. Monk and the Man Who Shot Santa," will lead into "Psych's" first holiday effort - "Gus' Dad May Have Killed an Old Guy" - at 10:00/9:00c that same night. Both series then will return for the back half of their respective seasons in January.

-- Showtime has confirmed "The L Word" will return for its fifth season on Sunday, January 6 at 10:00/9:00c.
