"A Shot At Love" Star Tila Tequila To Host, Travis of Gym Class Heroes To Spin As House DJ And Special MTV.com Countdown Coverage Available Online December 21st

It will be a costume countdown unlike any other as MTV: Music Television announced plans today to ring in 2008 with the ultimate New Year's Eve masquerade party. "Tila Tequila's New Years Eve Masquerade 2008" will air live Monday, December 31st from 11:00pm ET to 12:30am ET in the network's Times Square studio in the heart of New York City, the world's most popular party playground. MTV "A Shot At Love" star Tila Tequila (ashotatlove.mtv.com) will host the event alongside MTV VJs Damien Fahey and Lyndsey Rodrigues. As Tila hosts the ultimate New Year's Eve party, viewers can expect some of the "A Shot At Love" cast to stop by to help her celebrate, including the Season One winner of Tila's heart and a special appearance by series favorite Domenico. Treated to the ultimate year-end bash, an audience masked in masquerade attire will rock out to house DJ Travis of Gym Class Heroes who will spin the year's most popular tunes amidst hot performances by Mary J. Blige, Kid Rock, Fabolous, Paramore, Good Charlotte, Wyclef, Boys Like Girls and Flo Rida.

Adding to the excitement of the star-studded special, will be guest appearances by some of Hollywood's biggest names including premier entertainment blogger Perez Hilton. Not one to miss the biggest party of the year, Perez will be on-hand to host his own purple carpet with celebrity interviews and will provide MTV viewers with commentary on celebrity rehab, 2007 breakups, plus some outrageous predictions for 2008.

Beginning December 21st, fans interested in getting the party started before New Year's Eve can log onto MTV.com to check on new performers and guests as they're added, watch special music video playlists featuring performer videos; and can view performances and photos from last year's event. On show night, the MTV New Year's Eve site will become a virtual party unlike any other providing fans with that night's smash performances, show highlights and one-of-a-kind celeb photos straight from the studio.

Not content to keep the fun on-air and online, MTV Mobile will make select performances from the evening available through its carrier distribution partners. For the ultimate interactive New Years Eve experience partygoers will be able to play live with MTV's HD Times Square Screen MTV 44 � by sending text messages, vote to influence the music videos that will be played; and test their music and pop culture know-how by answering trivia questions written specifically for the event.

To cap off the year with its trademark innovation, MTV held online contests in Los Angeles, Chicago, Phoenix and Austin in partnership with Time Warner Cable, Comcast and Cox Communications. Local music fans cast 3.4 million votes to help choose the one local band in each market that would come to New York City to have their very own video performance taped by MTV in Times Square. The winning bands' videos will air live in their hometown during their respective local commercial break in the New Year's Eve celebration. Following the on-air special's broadcast their videos will be made available locally On Demand.
