And One San Francisco Comic Gets into a War of Words with French Stewart!
BURBANK, CA June 2, 2008 Celebrity talent scouts Dave Foley ("Newsradio," "Thank God You're Here"), Richard Kind ("Mad About You"), Josh Gomez ("Chuck") and French Stewart ("3rd Rock from the Sun") and a Top 10 countdown of the worst and craziest auditions of this season spice up a special two-hour episode of NBC's "Last Comic Standing" on Thursday, June 5 (8:00-10:00 p.m. ET).
In this third episode of the Emmy-nominated series, hosted by Bill Bellamy ("Def Comedy Jam," "Any Given Sunday"), the search continues for the funniest comedians in the world! Gomez and Stewart go looking for laughs in San Francisco, and find three times the funny with a wild comedy trio of brothers. But they get more than they bargained for when one not-so-funny female comic refuses to go down without a fight! Then it's on to Toronto, where Canadian native Foley and Kind find a long line of jokesters ready to deliver their best comic bits.
In addition to Canada, talent scouts will continue traveling across the country in the next two episodes airing June 12 and June 19, scouting for the funniest comics. That includes a stop in Miami, the host city for comics coming in to audition from all over the globe. Ultimately, top comedians from more than 20 countries including England, Australia, Scotland, Sweden, South Africa, India, New Zealand, Norway, Japan and Israel audition during the international search, each hoping to be the "Last Comic Standing."
After the audition search is over, the best of the best will come to Las Vegas to perform for a huge crowd at the Paris Las Vegas, where the top 12 comedy acts will be chosen as finalists. They'll move on to the challenge rounds for a comedy showdown week by week, until the funniest comics return to the Paris Las Vegas for the finals and the finale.
The "Last Comic Standing," as determined by America's vote, will win a $250,000 grand prize including an exclusive talent deal with NBC, a brand new Honda, and a starring appearance in Jubilee! at Bally's Las Vegas.
"Last Comic Standing" is produced by Peter Engel Productions and Universal Media Studios. The executive producers are Peter Engel ("Saved By the Bell," "The Next Best Thing"), David Friedman (NBC's "Last Call with Carson Daly," "NBC's New Years Eve with Carson Daly") and Barry Katz ("Action," "Dane Cook's Tourgasm"). Javier Winnik (NBC's "The Singing Bee"), Page Hurwitz ("Last Comic Standing 4 & 5") and Noel Guerra (Bravo's "Project Runway") are co-executive producers.
