THE 35th ANNUAL PEOPLES CHOICE AWARDS celebrates its milestone for being the award show for fans to voice their choice for more than three decades. A press conference will be held November 10 to announce the nominees, and the winners will be honored at the awards ceremony, which will air live from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009 (9:00-11:00 PM, ET/delayed PT) on the CBS Television Network.

For the first time in its 35 year history, the People's Choice community members at pcaVOTE.com determined THE 35th ANNUAL PEOPLE'S CHOICE nominees, putting the power in the hands of the fans like never before. Starting November 10, fans can visit pcaVOTE.com to cast their votes, which will determine the winners announced during the telecast.

"THE 35th ANNUAL PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARDS continues to be the only award show voted on entirely by the public, setting it apart from all other shows of its kind," said Fred Nelson, President of People's Choice. "On this one special night, our passionate voters are able to present their favorites in movies, music and television with the highest honor they can give."

For the past 35 years, some of Hollywoods elite actors, musicians, television shows and box office hits have been named PEOPLES CHOICE AWARD winners by their fans. The event began in 1974 with 14 categories, which included winners Mary Tyler Moore, Favorite Female TV Performer, John Wayne, Favorite Motion Picture Actor and Bob Hope, Favorite All-Around Male Entertainer. In 2008, the categories nearly tripled, awarding such honorees as Katherine Heigl, Favorite Female TV Star, Johnny Depp, Favorite Male Movie Star and The Bourne Ultimatum, Favorite Action Movie. To represent the ever-growing online entertainment realm, 2008 saw the first Favorite User-Generated Video award for Liam Sullivans Shoes. This award will again be presented at the 2009 award show and, along with "Favorite New TV Comedy" and "Favorite New TV Drama," will be eligible for voting up until the start of the live broadcast.

THE 35th ANNUAL PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARDS is being produced by Procter & Gamble Productions, Inc. The People's Choice Awards is fully sponsored by products of Procter & Gamble, which is represented by MediaVest Worldwide, Inc., supervisors of the production. Carol Donovan ("GQ Men of the Year Awards") is the executive producer for the fourth year. Central Talent Booking is the talent consultant. Bruce Gowers ("The American Music Awards") is directing the special.
