Development Update: Thursday, November 20
By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:

Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!

10 THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU (ABC Family) - Ethan Peck, Lindsey Shaw, Meaghan Jette Martin, Kyle Kaplan and Nicholas Braun have all been cast in the cable channel's small screen take on the 1999 feature of the same name. Shaw and Martin will play Kat and Bianca - roles originated by Julia Stiles and Larisa Oleynik, respectively - sisters facing the challenges of starting at a new high school. Braun then is set as schoolmate Cameron, who is smitten with Bianca, with Peck as the dark and mysterious Patrick, a student who intrigues and bothers Kat from a distance. Joseph Gordon-Levitt and the late Heath Ledger played said roles in the film. Carter Covington is behind the new adaptation with Gil Junger directing.

COURTROOM K (FOX) - Michael Landes is following in the footsteps of co-star Megan Dodds, inking a one-year talent holding deal with the pilot's producer 20th Century Fox Television. Landes inked a similar deal back in 2007 which led to his casting in "Courtroom K." The new pact, which isn't limited to FOX, will likewise call for the studio to cast him in one of their existing properties or develop a new project around him.

THE DETONATORS (Discovery, New!) - RDF USA and corporate sibling IWC have scored a 13-episode commitment from the cable channel for a new reality series that spotlights demolition blasts around the world and explains the science behind them. Due in January, the project will track explosives experts Braden Lusk and Paul Worsey as they meet the blasters behind such structures as urban skyscrapers, massive steel bridges and giant stadiums. Each hourlong installment then will feature two detonations that have something in common. Discovery's Beth Dietrich, RDF USA's Charles Tremayne and IWC's Rachel Bell are the executive producers with Wendy Greene ("The First 48") serving as showrunner.
