By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:

Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!

GOSSIP GIRL (The CW) - The netlet has confirmed the rumored spin-off of the much-ballyhooed drama is officially being discussed. Details are still being worked out with executive producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage. Alloy Entertainment already publishes "The It Girl," a spin-off series featuring Taylor Momsen's character, however sources suggest that won't be its focus. In any case, the resulting project, should it materialize, would be set up at Warner Bros. Television and co-produced by Alloy and Schwartz's College Hill Productions. It's believed that an upcoming episode would set up the show, a la "Gilmore Girls" and its eventually aborted spin-off featuring Milo Ventimiglia's character.

HEROES (NBC) - "Pushing Daisies" creator/executive producer Bryan Fuller is reportedly close to signing a two-year, seven-figure overall deal with Universal Media Studios. The pact will bring the prolific writer/producer on board the studio's "Heroes" for the rest of the season, where he'll take over for departing co-executive producers Jeph Loeb and Jesse Alexander. Subsequently he's expected to either stay with "Heroes" next season or move onto another studio-based show or develop his own projects for the company.

UNTITLED LISA RINNA/HARRY HAMLIN PROJECT (TV Land, New!) - Lisa Rinna and Harry Hamlin are set to be the focus of a potential new reality series at the cable channel. Production is set to begin on a pilot presentation for the project, which would track the couple along with their two daughters. Jason Carbone ("High School Reunion") is shepherding the half-hour, which is being target for a series pick-up sometime next year.

UNTITLED MEGAN HAUSERMAN PROJECT (VH1, New!) - Casting is underway on a new dating series featuring the "Rock of Love 2"/"Rock of Love Charm School"/"I Love Money" alum. Here's how the network's notice details the project: "MEGAN HAUSERMAN is looking for a man who will shower her with LOVE and MONEY. VH1 is casting SINGLE MEN of the HIGHEST PEDIGREE to compete for the bikini clad bombshell from ROCK OF LOVE 2, CHARM SCHOOL and I LOVE MONEY. If you are a single man with the net worth of $1,000,000 or more, then Megan would love to meet you. Whether you are a CEO or a TRUST FUND BABY, Megan would make the perfect arm candy for any man... who can afford her!" More details can be found on VH1.com.

UNTITLED POLITICAL THRILLER (AMC) - Miranda Richardson ("Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire"), Christopher Evan Welch ("Vicky Cristina Barcelona") and Lauren Hodges ("My Guide to Becoming a Rock Star") are in talks to join the cast of the drama pilot, which revolves around a secret society that pulls the strings on the world political stage and a brilliant analyst at a national think tank who discovers their existence. In addition, Allen Coulter ("Damages") has been tapped to helm the hour from a script by Jason Horwitch. Richardson will play "the widow of a billionaire who dies mysteriously, leaving her a cryptic message"; with Welch as "a smart and arrogant analyst at the think tank"; and Hodges as "the youngest analyst on the team." Horwitch is executive producing the pilot alongside Joshua D. Maurer.
