NBC Nightly News Anchor Brian Williams Narrates One-hour Documentary On Barack Obama's Life And Road To The White House

Three Hours Of DVD Bonus Material Includes Exclusive Brian Williams Interviews With Obama During The Campaign And Five Key Obama Speeches - Uncut And In Their Entirety. DVD Is On Sale Now At www.nbcuniversalstore.com

Universal City, CA - December 18, 2008 - NBC News traces the history-making 2008 presidential election with a new "NBC News Presents" commemorative DVD, "Yes We Can! The Barack Obama Story." NBC Nightly News Anchor and Managing Editor Brian Williams narrates the documentary, which is on sale now exclusively at NBC Universal's online store, www.nbcuniversalstore.com.

"Yes We Can!" takes the viewer through the story of Barack Obama's life - his childhood, his time in college and then law school at Harvard, and his work as a community organizer in Chicago. It also explores Obama's political rise: from Illinois State Senator to United States Senator; from presidential candidate to now president-elect.

DVD extras include five key Obama speeches in their entirety, including his keynote address to the 2004 Democratic Convention, the announcement of his candidacy in February 2007, his pivotal speech on race relations in early 2008 and his victory speech on Election Night, November 4, 2008.

"Barack Obama's journey from childhood, to one of the most exciting election nights in recent memory, has been a remarkable story," said Cheryl Gould, Senior Vice President, NBC News. "We wanted to capture the historical nature of the 2008 elections in this commemorative DVD, which we know will be fascinating for years to come."

"We are proud to share this documentary with our viewers, and with all students of politics and American history," said Andrew Franklin, NBC News Special Projects Producer. "The 2008 race for president was one of the most dramatic and consequential campaigns this country has ever seen, and this documentary tells an important part of that story."

"We are really pleased to be able to offer this Living History commemorative DVD, which covers one of the most unique elections in our nation's history," said Val Nicholas, Vice President/Creative Director, The NBC Agency. "We look forward to offering additional Living History events on DVD in the years to come."

Obama's journey to the White House was achieved with remarkable speed, but it was not without its challenges. After his 2004 keynote speech at the Democratic Convention put him in the national spotlight, speculation began about his potential as a candidate for 2008. "Yes We Can!" reviews the events that put Obama on the road to the White House, starting with his election to the Senate in 2004. As a rising star in the Democratic Party, Obama announced for president in 2007, and fought what quickly became a tough and prolonged contest with Senator Hillary Clinton. After winning the nomination, Obama went head-to-head with Republican nominee John McCain, and finally prevailed on November 4th, 2008 - winning the election to become the 44th president of the United States.

"Yes We Can! The Story of Barack Obama" is a presentation of NBC News, and it is available exclusively at www.nbcuniversalstore.com. Price: $19.98.
