Grammy�-winning Artist to Play Ren-Mar Doc in 7 Episodes

LOS ANGELES, CA � (May 12, 2009) � Alternative rock star Alanis Morissette will travel to Ren-Mar for the 5th season of SHOWTIME's highest-rated comedy series WEEDS, premiering Monday, June 8th at 10p PT/ET. The multiple Grammy�-winning singer/songwriter will guest star as a no-nonsense clinic obstetrician, "Dr. Audra Kitson," who treats Nancy (Mary-Louise Parker) in at least seven of the season's 13 episodes. Morissette joins Jennifer Jason Leigh as season five special guest stars.

Alanis Morissette has released a series of groundbreaking albums that have sold more than 60 million copies worldwide. She has won twelve Juno Awards, seven Grammy� Awards, and has also received an additional fourteen Grammy� nominations. Alanis' international debut album Jagged Little Pill introduced her to the world and broke countless records worldwide. It remains the best-selling debut album by a female artist in the U.S. and is the highest selling debut album worldwide in music history. Morissette's subsequent five studio albums have all included a series of chart-topping singles.
