Spike TV to Rebroadcast Television Miniseries 'Meteor' and 'The Storm' This August

Spike TV Will Air Both Movies In Support Of The Spike TV Original Series 'Surviving Disaster'

NEW YORK, July 23 -- Spike TV has acquired the off-network rights to two disaster-themed NBC miniseries, "Meteor" and "The Storm," it was announced today by John Griffin, vice president, programming Spike TV. Both films, produced by RHI Entertainment, will air in late August in anticipation for the launch of Spike TV's new, ambitious original series, "Surviving Disaster."

"These two high-action, dramatic miniseries that will serve as the perfect platform to promote our exciting and informative new series, "Surviving Disaster," that might actually save your life," said Griffin.

"Surviving Disaster," hosted by Navy SEAL Cade Courtley, vividly takes viewers through catastrophic scenarios and arms them with the knowledge needed to survive the unthinkable. The Spike TV original series premieres Tuesday, September 1 (10:00-11:00pm ET/PT).

Originally airing on NBC on July 12 and 19 of this year, "Meteor" features two scientists, Dr. Lehman and Imogene O'Neil, who discover the giant meteor Kassandra, approximately three times the size of Mt. Everest, has been knocked out of its orbit and is now barreling straight toward Earth. The world's population is endangered as showers of smaller meteorites begin to lay waste to major cities around the globe. Starring Christopher Lloyd, Marla Sokoloff, Jason Alexander, Stacy Keach, Billy Campbell and Michael Rooker, part 1 premieres on Spike TV Sunday, August 30 at 8:00pm ET/PT and part 2 debuts Sunday, August 30 at 10pm ET/PT.

"The Storm," set to air July 26 and August 2 on NBC, is an epic miniseries event where the changeable forces of nature combine -- in the air, on land, in the seas -- as the world counts down its final, catastrophic hours. It's the ultimate tale of man against nature. The miniseries stars Treat Williams, James Van Der Beek and Teri Polo. Part 1 on Spike TV premieres Monday, August 31 at 8:00pm and part 2 debuts Monday August 31 at 10:00pm.

Spike TV is available in 98 million homes and is a division of MTV Networks. A unit of Viacom (NYSE: VIA, VIA.B), MTV Networks is one of the world's leading creators of programming and content across all media platforms. Spike TV's Internet address is www.spike.com.
