Development Update: Monday, October 12
By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:

Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!

FLASHFORWARD (ABC) - The Alphabet has upped its commitment to the freshman drama to 25 episodes. To date the series has averaged a solid 10.7 million viewers and a 3.6 rating/11 share among adults 18-49. Co-creator David S. Goyer and fellow executive producer Marc Guggenheim told reporters back in July they had envisioned the show's first season to run for at least 24 episodes.

SOUTHLAND (NBC) - TNT has reportedly emerged as a potential home for the short-lived drama, which was canceled last week by the Peacock. Said outlet was widely considered a frontrunner from the start due to the corporate ties between the cable channel and producer Warner Bros. Television. It's not clear if TNT would simply acquire the six completed episodes for its second season or resume production before a season two roll out. "We continually look at all programming opportunities that fit our portfolio of brands," TNT said in a statement released to The Hollywood Reporter.

UNTITLED CHRIS HARRIS/JARED STERN PROJECTS (CBS, New!) - "How I Met Your Mother" co-executive producer Chris Harris and newcomer Jared Stern have each sold untitled multi-camera projects to CBS. Both half-hours are set up at the 20th Century Fox Television-based the Chernin Co. with the company's Peter Chernin and Katherine Pope executive producing alongside their respective creators. Harris's effort, which has a penalty attached should it not go to pilot, is detailed as a workplace comedy which "explores the generation gap between a guy in his mid 20s and another in his late 30s" while Stern's is described as "a blue-collar workplace comedy about the staff of a superstore."
