New "Important Things with Demetri Martin"/"The Sarah Silverman Program" Block To Air On Thursdays

NEW YORK, Jan. 12 -- A very important show returns to COMEDY CENTRAL for a second season. Season two of the hit sketch comedy series "Important Things with Demetri Martin" debuts on Thursday, February 4 at 10:00 p.m. The new "Important Things with Demetri Martin"/"The Sarah Silverman Program" block airs on Thursdays.

The 10-episode second season of "Important Things with Demetri Martin" was produced in Los Angeles and San Francisco and features stand-up comedian, actor, Emmy-losing writer and all-around person Demetri Martin as the creator, executive producer and star of the series. Martin mixes stand-up comedy, sketches, animation, studio bits and music to explore one "important thing" per episode. The new season introduces such topics as Attention, Ability, Strategy, Money and 2.

"Important Things with Demetri Martin" launched on February 11, 2009 as COMEDY CENTRAL's most-watched series premiere since "Chappelle's Show" (2003) with an average of 2.8 million total viewers and was the most-watched program on all of television in prime time, that night among Men 18-24, beating even "American Idol." The first season of "Important Things," which ended on March 25, averaged 2.3 million total viewers and ranked as the #1 series in its timeslot in all of television among Men 18-24 and Men 18-34. (Source: Nielsen Media Research, most current data, 2/11/09-3/25/09).

"Important Things with Demetri Martin" will be available day-after-air both in Standard and High Definition on iTunes Xbox LIVE and Zune. It will be available in Standard Definition only on Sony Playstation Network and Amazon Video on Demand.

Demetri Martin (www.demetrimartin.com) has performed in most of the English-speaking countries in the world (not in South Africa or New Zealand, though) and won trophies for comedy in America, Scotland and Australia. Martin was a staff writer for "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" and has appeared on many late night talk shows. He was in a few movies, too.

Martin made a comedy CD called "These Are Jokes", which was released via COMEDY CENTRAL Records in 2006 and his "Trendspotting with Demetri Martin" has been a featured segment on the Emmy and Peabody Award-winning "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" since December 2005. Martin was featured in his own one-hour stand-up special for COMEDY CENTRAL, "Demetri Martin. Person." (which was also released on DVD by COMEDY CENTRAL Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Entertainment).

Beginning this month, the "Important Things with Demetri Martin" Web site will debut new interactive site features and weekly video content, both exclusive and show-based. Viewers can watch outtakes and deleted scenes and view picture galleries featuring artwork from the show. The Important Things IQ will all be featured in a new online game and users can relive choice moments from last season via themed "rewind" clips.

"Important Things with Demetri Martin" is produced by Busboy Productions and Person Global with executive producers Demetri Martin, Charlie Siskel, Michael Koman and Jon Stewart. Zoe Friedman serves as executive in charge of production for COMEDY CENTRAL.
