Discovery Health Presents Its Most Dramatic and All New Baby Week

- Four World Premiere Specials Air Nightly Beginning Monday, March 1 at 8 PM ET/PT -

SILVER SPRING, Md., Feb. 9 -- The addition of a baby to a family is supposed to be one of life's happiest events - but for some, the road can be a little rocky. Discovery Health's all-new BABY WEEK kicks off on Monday, March 1 at 8 PM (ET/PT,) showcasing the joys - and the struggles - that arrive with a new baby. With four all-new specials airing nightly through Thursday, March 4, BABY WEEK follows the first-hand accounts of parents facing the challenges that accompany their little bundles of joy. From the difficult topic of postpartum depression, to unorthodox parenting styles, to miracle pregnancies, this BABY WEEK's programming slate offers a unique and candid glimpse into what life is sometimes like after baby.

Featured BABY WEEK world premiere programming includes:

* PARALYZED AND PREGNANT WITH TWINS

* POSTPARTUM NIGHTMARES

* RADICAL PARENTING

* TOO MANY BABIES?

"With BABY WEEK, Discovery Health presents an honest, relatable viewpoint on some of the challenges real parents are facing, and reinforces what parents everywhere know to be true - raising children is incredibly hard work, but well worth the effort," said Laura Michalchyshyn, President and General Manager of Discovery Health, Planet Green, FitTV, and Treehugger.com

Headlining BABY WEEK on Monday, March 1 at 8 PM (ET/PT) is PARALYZED AND PREGNANT WITH TWINS, a gripping tale of courage and perseverance. This hour-long special presents the amazing story of Claudia, a woman who was paralyzed from the armpits down following a devastating car accident that killed her infant son. Though the pain of losing her baby was excruciating, Claudia hoped that one day she could have more children. Despite doctors' skepticism, her dream miraculously came true - Claudia was not only pregnant, she was expecting twins. PARALYZED AND PREGNANT WITH TWINS follows Claudia and her husband on their incredible new journey as they prepare for the birth of their two sons, and grapple with the enormous challenges her disability presents.

BABY WEEK will also feature the following all-new premiere programs:

* POSTPARTUM NIGHTMARES

NEW SPECIAL! Premieres Tuesday, March 2, at 8 PM (ET/PT)

In this compelling special, Discovery Health explores a topic that has touched many mothers: postpartum depression. Showcasing a range of postpartum experiences from depression to psychosis, POSTPARTUM NIGHTMARES explores how this devastating emotional condition can create turmoil and wreak havoc on the lives of those affected. Additionally, mothers with first-hand experience and leading clinical experts provide methods for emerging from the darkness of this debilitating condition.

* RADICAL PARENTING

NEW SPECIAL! Premieres Wednesday, March 3, at 8 PM (ET/PT)

Discovery Health delves into non-traditional forms of parenting in this hour-long special. From overly-attentive parenting to "hands-off" parenting, to raising a child gender-neutral, these parents -and many like them - are choosing to march to the beat of a different drum when it comes to child rearing.

* TOO MANY BABIES?

NEW SPECIAL! Premieres Thursday, March 4, at 8 PM (ET/PT)

Casey and Ethan Jones had the perfect life - high school sweethearts turned man-and-wife, with a successful family business and a darling daughter to boot. They thought that one more baby would make life complete - but instead, they got the surprise of their lives when Casey found out she was pregnant with quintuplets. Today, their lives could not be more different - and this hour-long special shows how the family is adapting to a whole new ballgame.

Online at DiscoveryHealth.com, visitors will have access to a robust resource guide on post partum depression (PPD,) including expert advice on topics like how to choose a therapist and how to cope with a family member suffering from PPD. In addition, the site will feature tips on how to get your body back after giving birth, as well as quizzes on a variety of pregnancy and parenting topics. The site will also highlight exclusive webisodes as well as the "Cutest Baby Face-Off" bracket game, which visitors can play by submitting photos of their own babies.
