LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- Syfy has booked its mini-series "Riverworld" for Sunday, April 18.
The four-hour event will fill the night with part one at 7:00/6:00c and part two at 9:00/8:00c, network sources have confirmed to the site exclusively.
Tahmoh Penikett ("Dollhouse") and Laura Vandervoort ("V") topline the project, about "a mysterious world where everyone who has ever lived on Earth, seems to have been 'reborn' along the banks of a seemingly endless river." Mark Deklin, Alan Cumming and Peter Wingfield also star in the effort, which is billed as a backdoor pilot for a potential series.
The mini-series marks the second time the network has brought Philip Jose Farmer's novel to the small screen. Brad Johnson starred in the previous incarnation, which aired in 2003.
