SECOND SEASON OF LIFETIME TELEVISION'S CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED HIT SERIES DROP DEAD DIVA TO PREMIERE SUNDAY, JUNE 6

BREAKOUT STAR BROOKE ELLIOTT AND ENSEMBLE CAST RETURN FOR 13 NEW EPISODES

LOS ANGELES, CA (March 4, 2010) - The highly anticipated second season of Lifetime Television's hit series, Drop Dead Diva, will premiere Sunday, June 6, 2010, at 9pm ET/PT. Praised by critics as one of 2009's top new series, the one-hour, comedic drama tells the story of a shallow wannabe model who dies in a sudden accident only to find her soul resurfacing in the body of a brilliant, plus-size and recently deceased attorney, Jane. Produced by Sony Pictures Television, Drop Dead Diva features breakout star Brooke Elliott (Wicked, Taboo), Margaret Cho (Ghost Whisperer, Notorious C.H.O.), Jackson Hurst (The Tree of Life), Kate Levering (Cashmere Mafia), April Bowlby (Two and a Half Men), Josh Stamberg (Lie to Me) and Ben Feldman (The Perfect Man). The second season of Drop Dead Diva will feature 13 new episodes.

Currently in production in Atlanta, Drop Dead Diva's season two opener will feature entertainer Paula Abdul (American Idol) reprising her role as "Judge Paula Abdul," a figment of Jane's subconscious. Devon Gummersall (My So-Called Life) and David Denman (The Office) return as guest stars this season. The premiere episode will also feature a musical dream sequence, choreographed by So You Think You Can Dance's Keith "Tyce" Diorio.

Season one of Drop Dead Diva will be encored beginning April 11, behind original episodes of Army Wives with back-to-back episodes at 11pm ET/PT and 12am ET/PT through May 23. Additionally, on Sunday, May 30, Lifetime will air an all-day marathon of the first season of Drop Dead Diva from 10am to 11pm ET/PT.

ABOUT DROP DEAD DIVA

In the first season of Drop Dead Diva, beautiful-but-vapid model wannabe Deb, suddenly finds herself in front of Heaven's gatekeeper, Fred (Feldman), following a fatal car crash. Outraged by her sudden demise, she attempts to persuade Fred to return her to her shallow existence but is accidentally relegated to the body of the recently deceased Jane Bingum (Elliott). An intelligent, thoughtful and plus-size attorney with a loyal assistant, Teri (Cho), Jane has always lived in the shadow of her colleagues whereas Deb has always relied on her external beauty. By a twist of fate and a bolt of divine intervention, Deb must come to terms with inhabiting Jane's curvier frame and learn to reconcile her beauty queen ways with her brilliant, new mind.

At the close of last season, Deb was ready to let go of her past and embrace her new life as Jane. But the unexpected arrival of Jane's "secret" husband Ethan (Gummersall) at her doorstep left her with more questions than ever. To make matters worse, Jane may be disbarred after breaching client-attorney confidentiality when, against the firm's advisement, she reported her client for fraud. Faced with a new love triangle and the uncertainty of her career, Jane must, once-again, chart out a new future for herself.

Some of the guest stars throughout the first season of Drop Dead Diva included Abdul, Liza Minnelli, Rosie O'Donnell, Tim Gunn, Delta Burke, Nia Vardalos, Kathy Najimy, Jorja Fox, Elliott Gould and Gregory Harrison. Josh Berman (Bones, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation) is creator and executive producer. Craig Zadan and Neil Meron (Academy Award?-winning Chicago, Hairspray, Lifetime's Living Proof) of Storyline Entertainment are executive producers. Alex Taub (Eli Stone) also returns as executive producer.

The highest rated first season of an original Lifetime series since Army Wives in 2007, Drop Dead Diva reached more than 65.9 million Total Viewers last year, when it ranked in the top three of all new original program debuts among the key demographics, including Households, Women 18-34, Women 18-49, Women 25-54, Women 18+ and Adults 18-34. In addition, during Drop Dead Diva's time period on Sunday evenings, Lifetime was the number one rated ad-supported cable network among Women 18-49, Women 25-54 and Women 18+.
