DIY NETWORK AND VANILLA ICE TEAM UP AS POP STAR TRADES THE MIC FOR A HAMMER ON NEW SERIES, "THE VANILLA ICE PROJECT"

New Home Renovation Series Premieres October 14 at 9 p.m. ET

NEW YORK - August 16, 2010 - DIY Network, the go-to-destination for home improvement television, shines a new spotlight on 90s pop icon, Vanilla Ice (a.k.a. Robert Van Winkle), with The Vanilla Ice Project, a new series focusing on his passion for home renovation. Premiering on Thursday, Oct. 14 at 9 p.m. ET, The Vanilla Ice Project showcases the Grammy-nominee's 15 years of self-taught home improvement experience. In this 10-episode series, Rob is ready for his biggest project yet - a complete overhaul of a six-bedroom and five-bathroom, 7,000 square-foot lakefront home in Palm Beach, Fla. Each half-hour episode documents Rob demonstrating his vast renovation knowledge as he calls the shots in this room-by-room home makeover series, exposing an entirely new side of the star. A side his fans have never seen before.

After his chart topping hit "Ice, Ice Baby," Rob turned his focus on a new hobby, buying land and flipping houses. He's renovated old homes and foreclosures and taught himself the basics through hands-on experience and a lot of research. The self-made expert comments, "I think the process of transforming something from grime to shine influences me." He adds, "This house was in need of a major upgrade and my proudest moment will be when this house is revealed."

Over the course of DIY Network's The Vanilla Ice Project, Rob rides his crew hard to get through the punch list, so that they can get the house on the market. Along with his team, Rob masterfully renovates the kitchen, master bathroom, pool, garage and more, into a luxurious residence. Of course, the group faces a very common dilemma: how to save money without sacrificing style. Problems arise - even for Vanilla Ice. With cameras rolling, he must figure out cost-effective ways to achieve the finishing touches. The "For Sale" sign can't go up until all of the light fixtures are hung and all the other fine details are in place. A new half-hour episode of The Vanilla Ice Projectairs on DIY Network every Thursday at 9 p.m. ET, beginning October 14.

Viewers can also become fans of DIY Network and interact with other home improvement enthusiasts and do-it-yourselfers through Facebook and Twitter. DIY Network is available nationwide on DISH Network Ch. 111 and DIRECTV Ch. 230, and additional cable channel designations may be found by checking local listings and www.DIYnetwork.com/tv.
