"EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION" IS READY TO RUMBLE WITH THE LAMPE FAMILY IN LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY
The "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" team went in for the ultimate takedown when they paid a visit to the Lampe family in Louisville, Kentucky. The Lampe family business, a once self-sustained tree service, has been hit hard by a series of injuries that forced the family to slow their pace and turn away work. Rough terrains and deadly heights are just part of the physical dangers that face Jeff Lampe daily. Despite the persistent pain and the lack of health insurance, Jeff powers through each day in an effort to keep the family afloat. The proud father of six and his wife, Shelley, have not allowed their circumstances to get them down. The Lampes continue to serve their community by affording local teens the opportunity to learn more about wrestling.
The wilderness is the Lampes' playground. Nature expeditions, rope swings and fishing are matched only by their love of wrestling. Having converted their garage into a make-shift wrestling gym, the family is beloved by their community for training and mentoring kids in an effort to help them find their direction and in some cases further their interest in the sport. But the house is in desperate need of attention: It has water problems and mold problems - there is no concrete foundation so water has rotted out the wood flooring underneath the house -- the wiring is old, and the Lampe children are outgrowing their space. Their youngest daughter, Angela, has Down Syndrome, and could use a safe place to play all her own. It's time that this family stopped worrying about their circumstances and reignite that sense of adventure they hold so dear... It's time for the Extreme Team to deliver a SMACKDOWN to this old dilapidated house.
On October 22nd the Lampes will be tagging in Ty Pennington, designers Paul DiMeo, Paige Hemmis and Ed Sanders to turn this house into mulch. In just seven days, when they return to see their new house, the Lampes will discover that dreams do come true. Local builders Elite Homes Inc. and community volunteers will rebuild the structure and give the Lampes the key to unlock a new beginning. In the meantime the family will vacation at Walt Disney World in Orlando.
The location address is: 10617 Jefferson Hill Rd., Fairdale, KY 40118
The series is produced by Endemol USA, of Endemol Holding, and executive-produced by Brady Connell & George Verschoor. David Goldberg is Chairman, Endemol North America.
