CBS.COM LAUNCHES "SOFT KITTY" CONTEST INSPIRED BY THE POPULAR SONG FROM CBS's HIT SHOW, "THE BIG BANG THEORY"

Users Can Upload Video of Themselves Performing the "Soft Kitty" Song for Chance to Win* a Trip to Los Angeles for a Taping of "The Big Bang Theory"

SAN FRANCISCO - Nov. 16, 2010 - CBS.com announced today the launch of the "Soft Kitty" contest, inspired by CBS's popular comedy THE BIG BANG THEORY. The song originated during the first-season episode, "The Pancake Batter Anomaly," during which Sheldon becomes ill and demands that Penny sing the "Soft Kitty" song his mom used to sing when he was sick. Bill Prady, the show's executive producer, included the song in the episode's script after he overheard it at his daughter's preschool, and the tune has been a fan favorite ever since.

Fans can upload 30-second videos of themselves singing the "Soft Kitty" song to CBS.com for a chance to win a grand prize of a trip to Los Angeles for a taping of THE BIG BANG THEORY.

Submissions will be accepted until Jan. 6, after which users can start voting for their favorite videos. The top 10 videos with the most votes will be revealed on Jan. 13, and the top 5 will be announced the following week on Jan. 20. The video that garners the most votes will be announced on CBS.com on Feb.3, immediately following an all-new episode of THE BIG BANG THEORY.

"THE BIG BANG THEORY continues to grow in popularity both on television and online," says Jeff Clark, Vice President of CBS.com. "Through this contest, we wanted to find a creative way to discover the show's most passionate fans and encourage them to compete with each other for the ultimate prize for any BIG BANG THEORY fanatic."

THE BIG BANG THEORY airs Thursday nights at 8:00 PM ET/PT on the CBS Television Network. Currently in its fourth season, the series averages over 14.5 million viewers per episode. Produced by Chuck Lorre Productions, Inc., in association with Warner Bros. Television, the series stars Johnny Galecki, Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco, Simon Helberg and Kunal Nayyar. THE BIG BANG THEORY is executive produced by Chuck Lorre, Bill Prady and Lee Aronsohn.
