HBO DOCUMENTARY FILMS SECURES U.S. TV RIGHTS TO "SING YOUR SONG"

Film Surveys The Life And Times Of Singer/Actor/Activist Harry Belafonte

NEW YORK, March 9, 2011 - HBO has picked up the U.S. TV rights for, SING YOUR SONG. With a remarkable sense of intimacy, visual style and musical panache, filmmaker Susanne Rostock ("The Long Way Home,") tells the rich story of the life of Harry Belafonte. The documentary will debut in Fall 2011, exclusively on HBO.

Inspired by singer and actor Paul Robeson, Belafonte rose to fame as a singer, despite trying tours across a segregated country and his provocative crossover into mainstream Hollywood. Belafonte's groundbreaking career personifies the American civil rights movement, while impacting many other developments in social justice. SING YOUR SONG reveals Belafonte as a tenacious hands-on activist, who worked intimately with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., mobilized celebrities for social justice, participated in the struggle against apartheid in South Africa and took action to counter gang violence, prisons and the incarceration of youth.

Producer Michael Cohl says, "HBO is the best home I know of for documentaries in this country. They have a long track record of presenting great non-fiction programming, I'm thrilled that SING YOUR SONG will have its broadcast premiere on HBO."

SING YOUR SONG was presented at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival and the 2011 Berlin Film Festival. Rena Ronson of United Talent Agency and Karol Martesko-Fenster negotiated the deal on behalf of the film and S2BN Entertainment.

SING YOUR SONG is a film by Susanne Rostock; producers, Michael Cohl, Gina Belafonte, Jim Brown, William Eigen, Julius R. Nasso; editors, Susanne Rostock and Jason L. Pollard.
