New York, NY - May 2, 2011 - HBO today officially launched its mobile HBO GO app, which is now available for download on Apple's iPad(R), iPhone(R) and iPod touch(R). In addition, the mobile HBO GO app is now available for download on numerous smartphones using Google's Android(TM) operating system. The new app is free of charge to HBO subscribers through a participating television provider. HBO GO offers consumers instant, exclusive access to more than 1400 titles, including every episode of every season of the best HBO shows - any time and from any U.S. location with a high speed broadband connection.
"HBO GO offers incredible value to our subscribers with its robust collection of renowned HBO programs and hit theatrical films," said Eric Kessler, co-president, HBO. "Now we can deliver the best our network has to offer to viewers on the-go."
HBO GO is currently available to approximately 80% of HBO households, including Comcast XFINITY TV, Verizon FiOS, Cox Advanced TV, AT&T U-Verse, Suddenlink, DIRECTV and DISH Network customers who subscribe to HBO.
HBO GO provides instant access to the best and latest HBO shows and hit movies such as the new, critically acclaimed series Game of Thrones(R), award-winning series like Boardwalk Empire (R) and True Blood(R), classics like The Sopranos(R), Sex and the City(R) and Deadwood(R), plus HBO original films, miniseries, sports, documentaries and specials, in addition to a wide selection of blockbuster theatricals.
Customers can personalize the online service through the "Series Pass(R)" capability, which automatically alerts viewers to new episodes of favorite HBO programs when they arrive on the service. Additionally, customers get most new titles simultaneously with their premiere on the network; the ability to create a "Watchlist" that keeps track of bookmarked content for later viewing; bonus content including interviews, recaps and behind-the-scenes extras; customizable views showing titles in slideshow, grid or list format; and the ability to pause, rewind and view at their convenience.
HBO GO is the latest addition to HBO's digital offerings and a perfect complement to HBO On Demand (R) with even more viewing choices. Most programming is available in high definition, with content updated continuously.
Home Box Office, Inc. is the premium television programming subsidiary of Time Warner Inc., providing two 24-hour pay television services - HBO(R) and Cinemax(R) - to approximately 40 million U.S. subscribers. The services offer the most popular subscription video-on-demand products, HBO On Demand(R) and Cinemax On Demand(R) as well as HBO GO(R) and MAX GO(R), HD feeds and multiplex channels. Internationally, HBO branded television networks, along with the subscription video-on-demand products HBO On Demand and HBO Mobile(R), bring HBO services to over 60 countries. HBO programming is sold into over 150 countries worldwide.
