FOR TRAINED SPECIAL FORCES SURVIVAL EXPERT MYKEL HAWKE, SURVING THE WILD MAY BE THE EASY PART IN "MAN, WOMAN, WILD"

- Mykel and Wife Ruth Survive the Harshest Environments with Little More than a Knife -

For Former Special Forces survival expert Mykel Hawke, toughing it out in some of the most rugged and dangerous places in the world with little more than a knife would be a difficult but manageable challenge. Add his savvy journalist wife Ruth England into the mix and you have Discovery Channel's hit series MAN, WOMAN, WILD, returning for a second season on Friday, September 2 at 9PM ET/PT.

Imagine the heated discussions you have at home with your significant other about where to go for dinner or whose turn it is to take out the trash. Now imagine being stranded in the middle of the wild with no food, no water and in miserable conditions. The conflicts turn from whose turn it is to pick the restaurant to what grubs are edible and whether the water is clean enough to drink.

In the second season of MAN, WOMAN, WILD, the stakes are higher and the misery compounded as the husband and wife team must: find their way out of the flooded Amazon jungle, make fresh water from raisins while lost at sea, navigate through a raging forest fire, escape from a glacial crevasse, trap wild boar and make fire with ice. From the Bermuda Triangle to the jungles of Columbia, from an abandoned town at the base of an active volcano to the center of a massive cave in Croatia, tMykel and Ruth put their survival skills - and their marriage - to the ultimate test.

In the kick-off episode, "Lost at Sea," the duo takes on a formidable challenge: their rented boat breaks down 20 miles off the shore of the Bahamas in the Bermuda Triangle. They have no choice but to make use of what they have aboard and wait for days to be rescued. Solar stills and raisins turn salt water into fresh water. Mykel fights to retain as much hydration as possible as he is on the verge of vomiting from seasickness. Times turn desperate and Ruth knows she must take action. She thinks fast and salvages what she can from the boat to do something that would make most women cringe: administer an enema to her ill husband at sea.

MAN, WOMAN, WILD is produced for Discovery Channel by Renegade 83, where David Garfinkle, Jay Renfroe and Doug McCallie are executive producers. For Discovery Channel, Anna Geddes is executive producer.
