LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:
Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!
GOODFELLAS (AMC, New!) - Nicholas Pileggi is looking to bring Martin Scorsese's mob classic, which follows the rise and fall of Lucchese crime family associates Henry Hill and his friends over a period from 1955 to 1980, to the small screen. Jorge Zamacona will co-write the potential take on the project alongside Pileggi, who penned the feature and the non-fiction book upon which it was based. Irwin Winkler and his son David then will executive produce alongside the duo for Warner Horizon Television. (Deadline.com)
MASTERS OF SEX (Showtime) - Paul Bettany has pulled out of the period drama pilot, about "the lives, romance and pop culture trajectory of William Masters and Virginia Johnson, whose research touched off the sexual revolution." Said report ties the actor's departure to having a say in the casting of the female lead, which had stalled the process. Michelle Ashford is behind the Sony Pictures Television-based hour, to be directed by John Madden. Nick D'Agosto and Teddy Sears also star. (Deadline.com)
AND IN OTHER NEWS... - Emma Stone, Andy Samberg and Nick Cannon will make cameos in the January 26 installment of "30 Rock" (EW.com); and Bryan Cranston will guest on the two-part season finale of "Archer" as "an earnest, conscientious astronaut fighting to quell a mutiny on the space platform" while Jack McBrayer and Michael Rooker will likewise turn up in a different episode (AOL.com).
