SCIENCE TAKES VIEWERS BACK TO NATURE'S FIGHT CLUB IN SEASON TWO OF "MONSTER BUG WARS"

--Season Two of MONSTER BUG WARS Premieres on SCIENCE on Tuesday, January 24 at 10PM ET/PT--

MONSTER BUG WARS creeps back to SCIENCE for another round of fight-to-the-death battles between the ruthless bugs that inhabit our world. The second season promises action-packed showdowns between these indomitable insects fighting to the end where only one threatening insect slayer will remain after each face-off. MONSTER BUG WARS premieres on Tuesday, January 24, at 10PM ET/PT.

Season two of MONSTER BUG WARS returns with six new episodes featuring dramatic footage giving viewers an inside look at the fascinating world of the earth's smallest and deadliest predators. The new season features insect experts Dr. Linda Rayor and Dr. Bryan Grieg Fry offering commentary on the mating, hunting and survival mode of each fearsome fighter. MONSTER BUG WARS gives viewers the chance to witness epic encounters between these vicious assassins where the only fiercest creature survives. It's a jungle out there and one-law reigns - eat or be eaten.

Episode One: Deadly Duels Season Premiere Tuesday, January 24 10PM ET/PT In the premiere episode witness a deadly duel between a Moss Mantis and a Jungle Tiger Beetle- who will be the victor? When a leaf look-alike Horned Katydid tackles a plant eating Owl Butterfly Caterpillar, who will survive to tell the tale? A solitary Army Ant soldier ventures into Ogre-Faced Spider territory and is faced with an enemy. In a shootout with a Black Tailed Scorpion, the Red-Thighed Wandering Spider's legendary venom is put to the test. The final match features, an aggressive Orb Weaver goes head to head with a destructive Longicorn Beetle.

Episode Two: Blood on the Forest Floor Premieres Tuesday, January 31 10PM ET/PT Two of the rainforest's fiercest opponents, a venomous Brazilian Wandering Spider and a vicious Hooded Mantis go head to head in the second episode. A Rainforest Land Crab pits its massive weapons against the might of an Army Ant swarm. A Velvet Worm and a Harvestman discharge their chemical weapons at point blank range. In a fierce battle, two dark forces of the rainforest, a Black Jungle Stalker and a Black Faced Katydid, fight to the death. Finally, in a fight where only one combatant emerges alive, a jungle Frankenstein, the Amblypygid, steps into the ring with the Red Forest Scorpion.

Episode Three: Ultra Violence Premieres Tuesday, February 7 10PM ET/PT In the third episode, there is all-out ultra-violence in the Costa Rican jungles as Mega Bugs go head to head. A hooded Giant Cockroach takes on a monstrous female Red-rump Tarantula. Then a valiant Vinegarroon becomes the target of a ruthless Stripe-tailed Centipede. The deadly showdowns continue as the Orange Horned Katydid, tackles a web-weaving Banana Spider. There is no stemming the bloodshed as a Golden Carpenter Ant and the Flag-tailed Assassin Bug fight to the death on a leafy arena. And, in the bout to end all bouts, a Bronzed Huntsman steps into the ring with a Slender-necked Mantis.

Episode Four: Mothers of all Wars Premieres Tuesday, February 14 10PM ET/PT A mother Scorpion loses one of her two-week-old babies in a skirmish in episode four. Then, a mother-to-be Rufus Comb-footed Spider guards her eggs, and her life, against a withering attack from a Spitting Spider. The queens of camouflage, a lightning-fast Lichen Mantis and a speedy Rock Spider duel to the death on a tree trunk. A Candy Cane Katydid and her close relative, a Bug Eyed Katydid, clash head on. In the final battle of the episode one life is lost as a Silverback Cross Spider and a Tiger Assassin Bug cross swords.

Episode Five: Murderous Intent Premieres Tuesday, February 28 10PM ET/PT Leaf Cutter Ant Soldiers have a fearsome reputation for slashing their enemies with monster jaws and in episode five viewers will see what happens when a Soldier tackles a Speckled House Spider. Then, a flimsy Costa Rican Cellar Spider faces off with a monster Geophilid Centipede and a Tiger Jumping Spider goes head to head with a Yellow Rainforest Jumping Spider. It's a David and Goliath battle when a Scarlet-mouth Conehead Katydid meets a Costa Rican Orange-mouth Tarantula, and a vicious turf war flares up when a posse of Trap Jaw Ants moves into a Dinosaur Ant neighborhood.

Episode Six: Super Slayers Premieres Tuesday, March 7 10PM ET/PT In the season finale, a teenaged Leaf-tailed Mantis takes on a carnivorous Sunburst Raspy Cricket. Followed by, a heavily armored Spiny Spider being ambushed by a superbly camouflage Crab Spider. But which one survives? In a rainforest pond, a Water Bug duels with a Mudeye and one of them is destined for death. A Domino Beetle does battle with a Crimson-legged Assassin Bug amongst the rainforest blossoms and, in a battle to the death, a Mangrove Tree Crab takes on a Leopard Spider. As in most monster bug wars, just one of them survives.
