UNTITLED CLARICE STARLING PROJECT (Lifetime, New!) - The cable channel is developing a prequel series to Thomas Harris's "The Silence of the Lambs" which "would follow the exploits of a young Clarice Starling soon after she graduates from the FBI academy." MGM Television is behind the hour, which isn't tied to NBC's upcoming series "Hannibal," about the early relationship between Hannibal Lecter and FBI criminal profiler Will Graham (Hugh Dancy). Jodie Foster originated the role of Clarice Starling in the 1991 feature with Julianne Moore taking over for the 2001's "Hannibal." (TVGuide.com)

AND IN OTHER NEWS... - "Gary Unmarried" alum Ric Swartzlander has been tapped as the new showrunner of the TBS-bound "Cougar Town," succeeding co-creators Bill Lawrence and Kevin Biegel (Deadline.com); "Jesse Stone: Benefit of the Doubt," which delivered 12.77 million viewers this past Sunday - but a 1.2 rating among adults 18-49, will mark the franchise's final film at CBS (Variety.com); and 20th Century Fox Television's pilot "Rebounding," which didn't make the cut at FOX, is reportedly under consideration at USA, home to the off-network run of executive producer Steve Levitan's "Modern Family" (Deadline.com).
