FRANCES CONROY AND JOHN DOE JOIN CAST OF LIFETIME ORIGINAL MOVIE "RING OF FIRE"

LOS ANGELES, CA (June 4, 2012) - Golden Globe(R) Award winning actress Frances Conroy (Six Feet Under) and music pioneer John Doe (X) have joined the cast of the Lifetime Original Movie Ring of Fire (fka The June Carter Cash Story), starring four-time Grammy(R) Award-nominee Jewel as legendary country artist June Carter Cash.

Conroy will portray June's mother Maybelle Carter and member of the legendary The Carter Family, who were considered the First Family of country music, while Doe will play her uncle, A.P. Carter, founding member of the famous group. As part of his role, Doe, acclaimed for his singing and songwriting across multiple genres, including rock, country and folk, will record A.P Carter's songs featured in the project. The movie will also feature Grammy-winning country outfit The Peasall Sisters as The Carter Sisters.

Based on John Carter Cash's narrative of his mother's life, Anchored in Love: An Intimate Portrait of June Carter Cash, Ring of Fire follows June from early childhood growing up in the rural mountains of Virginia to her relationship with Johnny Cash (Matt Ross). The film recounts her rise to fame with her popular family of singers when she was just a child before breaking out on her own to perform alongside such legendary entertainers asElvis Presley and running with a group of performers who would forever influence American culture. Told as only an insider could, Ring of Fire also takes a personal look at June's first two marriages, life with her daughters and her touching relationship with her only son, and her infamous courtship with Cash, who would become her third and longtime husband. The movie showcases June's role in saving Cash's life during his battles with substance abuse, as well as how her unwavering faith in God, confidence and talent has taught lessons to generations.

Ring of Fire will be produced by Asylum Entertainment, with Emmy(R) Award-winning Steven Michaels and Jonathan Koch, and John Carter Cash executive producing. Allison Anders is directing Richard Friedenberg's screenplay.
