TWO HOUR SPECIAL EVENT "OPRAH BUILDS A NETWORK" TO AIR SUNDAY, JULY 8 AND 15 AT 9 PM ON OWN

Follow Oprah Behind The Scenes For Her First Year as CEO of OWN

Los Angeles - OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network announced today the premiere of a two-part original primetime special event "Oprah Builds a Network" - a candid look at Oprah's first year as CEO of OWN - airing Sunday, July 8 and Sunday, July 15 from 9-10 p.m. ET/PT both nights.

"With the tremendous amount of fascination and interest surrounding OWN, we wanted this special to open the doors and go behind the scenes of key moments of this journey building the network," said Sheri Salata, president, OWN.

In the same way OWN's popular series "Season 25: Oprah Behind the Scenes" took viewers inside the making of the final season of her successful talk show, this new two-part documentary special will showcase Oprah sharing her innermost thoughts about some of the opportunities and obstacles she's faced as she works to create her cable network. Executive producer is Erica Forstadt.

Episode descriptions below:

Oprah Builds a Network Part One - Sunday, July 8 at 9 p.m. ET/PT

Oprah discusses the first year of her network launch, the reason why she decided to make herself CEO and her personal feelings about the much-publicized Nielsen misstep. Cameras follow Oprah as she shoots comedy skits for the Jimmy Kimmel Oscar special and travels to Georgia for production on a new OWN series.

Oprah Builds a Network Part Two - Sunday, July 15 at 9 p.m. ET/PT

Follow Oprah as she goes on the road for a glimpse behind the scenes of "Oprah's Lifeclass: The Tour," her surprise visit in St. Louis with best friend Gayle King to meet the cast of "Welcome to Sweetie Pie's" and the Kardashian Family interview. Also hear her candid comments on where the network is today.
