Eight SHOWTIME Actors Nominated Including Claire Danes, Damian Lewis, Don Cheadle, Michael C. Hall, Edie Falco, Joan Cusack, Merritt Wever and Bobby Cannavale

LOS ANGELES - July 19, 2012 - This morning, SHOWTIME was honored with 22 Emmy nominations across seven series, with HOMELAND nominated for nine Emmys - the most nominations of any freshman drama or comedy series this year, and the most nominations ever for a SHOWTIME series. The network is represented in all four lead actor and actress series categories with five actors nominated - the most lead actor nominations of any network (cable or broadcast) this year with nominations for HOMELAND's Claire Danes and Damian Lewis, HOUSE OF LIES' Don Cheadle, NURSE JACKIE's Edie Falco and Michael C. Hall for DEXTER(R).

The highest-rated freshman series in SHOWTIME history, HOMELAND has been honored with most major awards this year, including the Golden Globe for Best Television Drama, was named one of AFI's Top Ten Television Programs, received a Peabody Award, as well as the Critics' Choice Award for Best Drama Series, remarkably all in its freshman season. Claire Danes receives her second Emmy nomination in the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series category; she was previously nominated for My So-Called Life in 1995, and won in 2010 for Lead Actress in a Mini-series or Movie for Temple Grandin. This is Damian Lewis' first Emmy nomination. The series' nine Emmy nominations include nods for Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Actor and Actress, Outstanding Writing (for Alex Gansa, Howard Gordon and Gideon Raff), Outstanding Directing, Outstanding Casting, Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing, Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music, and Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Comedy or Drama Series (One Hour).

Don Cheadle receives his fifth Emmy nomination and first in the Lead Actor in a Comedy Series category for HOUSE OF LIES. Michael C. Hall is honored with his fifth consecutive nomination for DEXTER, and Edie Falco receives her third consecutive nod for NURSE JACKIE. This marks Falco's 10th Emmy nomination; she is a three-time winner. NURSE JACKIE's Merritt Wever is nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, and guest star Bobby Cannavale received a nod for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his role as Dr. Mike Cruz. In the Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series category, SHAMELESS' Joan Cusack was nominated for her role as Sheila Jackson.

The network scored a number of firsts this year - the first ever freshman drama series nomination (HOMELAND), the first ever lead actress in a drama series nomination (Claire Danes), and the first ever writing for a drama series (HOMELAND pilot). NURSE JACKIE received five nominations including Outstanding Casting for a Comedy Series and Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Comedy or Drama Series (Half-Hour) and Animation. THE BIG C was nominated for Outstanding Casting for a Comedy Series, and THE BORGIAS was honored with four nominations including Outstanding Hairstyling for a Single-Camera Series, Outstanding Music Composition for a Series (Original Dramatic Score), and second consecutive nominations for Outstanding Special Visual Effects in a Supporting Role and Outstanding Costumes for a Series - which the series won in 2011.
